I'm almost done studying acting

I've read books on method acting, read about Russian acting, read about Japanese acting, watched videos on Indian acting, and have been trained to be an actor. Special thanks to my community college for all of that as they helped me become an actor. I've only acted as an ensemble in four plays by another director. I have casted for the role of a military general in a My Little Pony fan game.

I got six more books on acting to read and four on casting. Hopefully I can get my first break on film. I have yet to have acted in anything else that is not by me.

You NEVER finish learning. You don't learn acting from books, you learn acting from doing it. I'm really sorry but colleges simply provide the environment for learning acting. As part of my job, which is nowadays pretty much management of actors, technicians and the other creatives - college is rarely linked to acting ability. You can get a degree and be useless. You can be an excellent actor and fail the qualififcation. Knowing about Russian or japanese acting is rarely going to help you get work. You say you went for a casting? Did you get it?

The reality with acting is one question. What roles have you played, and what were the notices like? My role often involves me making decisions when the real talent pickers are hung. So it might be an actor, a dancer, a singer, and they cannot agree. They then turn to me and I get the casting vote! I hate it, but it's always quite easy for me. Very sadly, some colleges do not do many productions, but unless they do enough, some people will always be ensemble. I would imagine you've had headshots done and a showreel. These are vital nowadays. If you want, you could privately send them to me via the forum, or I'll give you an email and if you want, I'll tell you what I think. Please don't do it unless you want a realistic response as to what I would do if they crossed my desk. I'll tell you what goes through my head. Some colleges and unis do this and are honest, but many say nothing. I'm a stranger, and what I think doesn't really matter - but you will at least find out what a stranger sees - a person who does not know the real you, only the one you present for work.

I forgot something. Lines. What is your script work like? That is a vital acting requirement nowadays. How long does it take you to learn the script? The other thing that acting courses rarely cover are changes to the script. An actor appears, first day, virtually word perfect. The Director makes a change - perhaps cutting lines, or even swapping them, about. As in "This doesn't flow. Give your lines to John, you look up and look stunned, and John delivers them, leaving the focus on your face". If you are John, can you suddenly pick up lines from somebody else? Are you word perfect as the script, or do you mangle lines - annoying the rest of the cast?
