Note I did not advocate in beliving in IQ or EQ makes a person smart or dumb. I'm just using the phrases relatively.

I do not condone or approve of the mean awful and cruel bullying done on people who do not have a certain IQ score.

Anyway, relatively speaking is EQ more important than IQ in the film industry? It seems to me social skills and being able to control your emotions holds more importance in that industry.

There are dozens (hundreds?) of millions of people on different paths in the film industry, and when thinking about the entire industry - every job - I'm sure you can find all combinations of low, average and high IQs with varying degrees of EQ who are very good, alright or not very good at their jobs.

Here's a fun celebrity list:

It's a people industry so you normally do want to be able to socialize well (and of course control any crazy emotions), but I think you have to break up this entire conversation into two groups for actors/actresses and everyone else.

With a very few, very technical exceptions, I think higher EQ will ALWAYS get you further (in any industry) than high IQ.

I wish mine was higher!

Yeah, this is one area where probably being borderline autistic doesn't help me. Like how people always say you should "network." Never knew how to do it, still don't feel comfortable with it.

But that being said, there are some nut jobs who are just so talented that people will put up with them. Like Christopher Doyle.

Having worked a long time in the industry. EQ- 60%, I.Q - 35%, extremely uniquely talented that people will put up with your lack of social graces- 5%

A reason for this is because you're spending far more hours, many months, even years with people you are working with at the expense of your family and friends.

Unless you have strong contacts already to keep the work flowing, then EQ is the only way to survive this industry.
