Gimbal on 80" Monopod vs monumental sculptures

I continue to tweak my gimbal/monopod set-up for doing drone/jib-type moves when the latter are not permitted. This time I had a remote operator on about 25% of the shots tilting the camera with a force mobile-like smartphone control. A7SIII w/sony G 12-24 on weebill-s + FX3 w/sony GM 50 on 2nd weebill-s, switching between those 2 rigs on Three Legged Thing Trent monopod.

Great stuff. This is one of my favorite ways to get unique shots with a gimbal. My cheapo monopod gets a little bendy but barely gets the job done.

The 3 legged thing Alan 2.0 is supposed to be super rigid. Like they advertise using it to boom cameras. The only reason I didn't get it is because it's only 58". If I weren't so cheap, I would definitely own both. But mostly I've focused on reducing weight on top of the rig and straining the system (and myself) less

I am the same way. Just continue to use the cheap thing instead of getting a good one. Maybe someday... If I shot more corporate conferences where you move around a lot and need some stability one of the monopods with decent legs and strength would be a good purchase.

Oh no, i got a good one. I just didn't buy BOTH. I was deciding between the Trent (80" but lower payload/rigidity) and the Alan 2.0 (58" but super rigid and high payload). I reasoned that I need to go as high as possible sometimes, and when it's pointed straight up, the weight capacity of the device far exceeds what I need to put on it. And when I'm using it at a horizontal or diagonal, I typically don't need to extend it all the way, which reduces the strain on the system.

So, basically, if the Trent is "good enough" in terms of support/rigidity, then I'm happy. If it bent or broke, that'd be a problem. :) so far so good! Each one is only like $100-200, and if i had both i would use the Alan in general until I need to go even higher. These are cheap because they're just a pole, no fancy legs at the base, no head. But I'm cheaper :)

I bring up the Alan because you mentioned that your monopod gets a little bendy. The Alan 2.0 should be solid as a rock...
