As for strobes - I see vid lighting getting 80% there and a couple of strobes clipped onto the bigger fixtures (4by diff ect) get you over the line

true but I'm curious about the number of true hybrid shooters. I remember you saying that you're hybrid, and I know there are a number of hybrid shooters on dvxuser. but basically everyone I meet in real life is shooting strictly video or strictly stills. the last time I was paid to shoot stills was about 2 years ago. many stills applications require strobes or at least a speedlight, so it's often not as simple as having the camera. the photographers I meet are aware of the video capabilities of their R5 or whatever but are genuinely disinterested in delving into video

Holy ****! The r5c can do 60p in 8K according to some leaked official specs from Canon. This is a game-changer. And I don't see how they could sell it for less than the $6500 A1.

FML, I’m going to have to buy it.
No will power with Canon’s greatest.
Alright…setting the alarm for a 1-second preorder after doors open.
Is the 60p 8k what you’re most excited about?
We’ll see how they trip it up tho…but if it’s a premium price then they’ll do less tripping..
I don’t know what’s left in a camera to want after this.
[Besides NDs and the usual requests, but will need a camera from a different department for that.]
I’m not doing 12K and beyond.
It helps but mostly about the overall technology and power.

So far at the very least, it doesn't have internal ND. So you can choose between a c70 and get all the features you want, or this. ND adapter is not the same thing because I'd be happy with vari-NDs anyway except for color shift, vignetting etc. ND adapter is still vari ND or switching single strengths
Can't speak for him. I'm not getting one because I'm in sony and don't need 8K right now anyway. But I think that you really need at least 60p in your highest resolution to claim that you're capable of that resolution. I don't know of another mirrorless or canon/sony camera that does 8k60p. It gives the camera a longer shelf life at least
very true. this is part of what makes the C70 one of my favourites recently, and hopefully more mirroless options move that way. An R5 with internal ND and a C badge would be very interesting. but at the same time, i’m very much a dynamic range user, and i recall the R5 being just a little less than i prefer. i may have to wait for when Canon ups their DR numbers.
computational image capture is next.
i feel with digital “film replacement”, we’ve more or less crossed the threshold.
...
do you think computational image capture is coming to video soon/ever?
many friends of mine are more happy with the way cellphones give them a slight touch up and do that shallow dof effect, and then they don’t have to waste time with a stupid block of dslr/mirrorless.
