A black friday suprise puts me in a position where I might buy a switcher.

Now i know little of this tech but it seems to me you need

-hdmi .. (operator) a monitor showing all cameras with a red box around the camera that is your current 'program'
-hdmi - (audience in the room) a monitor of your program as you might have a big screen and an audience
-usbC a program feed going to the computer as a web cam to intergrate with zoom teams or whatever

The atem mini seem not to have 2 hdmi out and are therefore useless?

Or can one get usbC to hdmi

this one looks good has program out and multi out but no apparent usbC to talk to zoom

ATEM Television Studio HD

You get not 4 on the screen but the 4 inputs plus preview and program - so one output is fine for the switching and the other (USBc) can go to the computer for recording/streaming etc

In a typical studio, there are a lot of program monitors. Use an HDMI splitter to provide the other outputs.

There are the ATEM products and the ATEM Mini switchers. The Mini are built around smaller type productions. They are very HDMI centric and offer USB-C or ethernet connection to your computer. They only have the input HDMIs and the one output HDMI.

I think your most flexible way to go would be the Television Studio HD (especially if you might be using SDI devices or cameras as well as HDMI) as it has everything you need except for the computer interface, of which there are a great deal of affordable flavors now available, such as the Atomos Connect ($40). It is a shame that Blackmagic didn't put a little more muscle into the ATEM Minis (the PRO answered the need for multiview but I believe they re-used the chassis for the original Mini so they didn't opt to add an additional HDMI out for clean program). That said, it is a fantastically capable little piece of gear, especially when you control it via the ATEM software on a laptop that opens up more features. The chromakeyer is in fact more sophisticated on the Mini than the Television Studio HD and pulls pretty impressive keys, which is really helpful for green screen shoots if you need to align things with existing plates. Even being able to do a simple half-dissolve or wipe on a standard production set is a big help for matching purposes, along with the internal frame store capability.

I bought an atem mini to do live broadcast with two cameras. My only complaint, the base model doesn't display all the inputs only the current live view. If I did more of these I would have spent the extra for the pro version.

Other sources are putting my off this for reasons of synch sensitivity. It doesnt seem rocket science to set all my cameras at 25p

can you mention audio.

would you live mix it.. fade up the current speaker. (person talking) . or just have levelled mics pointing at everyone .. and how.

Its funny - |I dont how to do this but it seems obvious to want a big local screen and a local all views screen

to record all channels and get a resolve project of your edit seems what I would want..

can one appy a lut to cameras??

One thing that attacts me is that I have the wireless transmitter so it would be possile to have a couple of static cameras and also wander about with no wires. nice.

I have many other things that appeal.. lighting, 3 sdi camera, various good mics and lots of grip.. this might be the missing link. or not.

do you mean you want an XML of the line cut that you are doing on the day? Recording all channels can happen locally on each camera, but do you also want a unified outboard set of recordings on the same codec? If yes, to all these, maybe look at the various Atomos products that do this--the Shogun 7, Sumo 19 and the Atom X Cast.

Thanks for your input.

I guess that is what I want - It would seem that various BM boxes do this creating a DRproject

Im just working through scenarious in my head which I guess goes like this..

1) important boss goes on zoom and talks to his staff with 2-3 cams
2) asap a neatened up summary goes online for staff or the public

My current thought is to get the cheapest bm box with multiview, learn to set it and get a feel for switching. Then rent/upgrade if I get bigger jobs.

Ill check out what an atom x is :)

LUTs ? (if the camera is recording an can pump out a lutted then we are done)
Audio? (my research says picture delay is a problem and using A camera xlr seems good)
