Pre-Teaser Trailer (Script still underway)

Hello fellow DVX'ers:

The following Pre-Teaser Trailer was created for a number of reasons. The first and foremost reason, is that this trailer is based off of my film script that has been in the works for 5 years now. It has been re-written about 16 times (no joking) I love the story of this project so much that I felt that none of the script drafts did my vision justice. Hence the crazy re-write number ;)

Secondly I needed a break from working on the script so I decided I would make a quick teaser over the weekend. I did just that :)

The following trailer does not really seal up a story or plot. It leaves you guessing, puzzled just the way I like it ;)

So please I hope you enjoy this Pre-Teaser Trailer.

Windows Media 9

Quicktime 6

Take care.

I really like your Gear Worx Productions Intro, thats awesome. A lot better than most of the crap production intros I have seen around here. Did you film that with the DVX? Most of the lowlight stuff looks like it was shot with a single CCD camera. Looks like a weird movie.

Oh man, Kyle beat me by like a minute as I went to the fridge to get a coke, but yeah man, I was gonna say, now *that's* what I'm talking about, that was tight, keep up the good work...(and let us know when Tron finally rolls around in grab form) ha... 8)

Re: Pre-Teaser Trailer (Script still underway)

;D Thanks guys. Yea that was filmed with the DVX but in post I altered the video to look like a security camera. Thats why it looks grainy and like a 1 CCD camera haha.

Yea I will post Tron here as soon as it is complete. I tell ya I am really excited about that project. We have a few cool surprises for Tron fans ;) I'll keep ya posted.

Take care.

Re: Pre-Teaser Trailer (Script still underway)

I really really like your Gear Worx intro as well, but i actually had a little bit of a suggestion for it as well. You may want to shorten it up considering it's almost 30 seconds long. I mean the Paramont moutain thing with the stars and all is pretty short and Columbia with the statue of liberty-esque lady is pretty quick but your's was like half of the teaser. I don't want to sound like i'm ripping it though because it looks nice and a lot of time and effort went into making it. Good job with the teaser. I just didn't like the hand prints and title at the end. I mean the style was cool but it looked a little cheesy to me. The title was a little pixelated and I think if you just took more time to get some nice, high quality images of the same stuff it would fit much better and give the whole thing a more professional feel. Anyways good job!

Re: Pre-Teaser Trailer (Script still underway)

Your opening tag might be just a bit long, but its very cool. One thing though, when the whole logo is revealed there is no more motion and its kinda jarring. I know that the gears are much smaller at that point but I think there should still be a sense of motion. Also I think that the sound is very effective and cool. Where did you get the screaming sound effects and music? Keep it up!

Re: Pre-Teaser Trailer (Script still underway)

Thanks for the feedback guys. As for the sounds I make all of them myself. The music is done by a good and talented friend of mine. He is also doing the musical score for my Tron film.

Take care.

Re: Pre-Teaser Trailer (Script still underway)

Hell yeah that INTRO kicks ass! Nice! I do agree, some movement towards the end would be great; perhaps when the little shimmering bells make sounds a little light ray cruises across? And it is a bit long for an intro; perhaps speed up that transition! IMHO of course.

Keep us posted about the movie! Im curious about it. The end titles (or movie title) was kind of weak and the drum track kind of took me out of the mood that was set.

IMHO of course

Re: Pre-Teaser Trailer (Script still underway)

Hey John;

Thanks. For the solid feedback.

As far as the logo goes I have been using that version of the logo for a couple years now. I am going to create a 5.1 DD version of the logo (same logo just new sound) for my upcoming Tron film intro. What I will try and do is speed it up a little and shorten the display time at the end. I think I can shave off about 10 seconds.

One thing I will say about this board is the good CONSTRUCTIVE feedback we all get. Granted the info is not always good but who cares right ? At least the feedback is helpful and it makes us want to improve our skills even further. I thank you all.

Take care.

Re: Pre-Teaser Trailer (Script still underway)

I love that logo too. What program did you use to develop it?
I agree with everyone's comments regarding time and motion etc. The only other point I would make is that when the full title comes into screen the "productions" looks a little flat like an afterthought, and the texture within it looks a bit cheesy. Otherwise I was thinking "how come I've never heard of "Gear Works" ....?

As far as the teaser: 10 points! You achieved your goal, I am puzzled and clueless. Good effects. How did you get the vertical jigerry picture look on the "Archived Footage" scene?

Re: Pre-Teaser Trailer (Script still underway)

I don't have much to say that other's havent...

Any idea when the finished movie will be ready?

Re: Pre-Teaser Trailer (Script still underway)

The logo was 3D Max. I decided to make the "Productions" word rusty like that because I wanted it to fit the factory style I was going for. It is ment to be sheet metal. That's why it is so flat.

Adobe After FX was where I created the flicker on the video.

The actual film it's self is a WAY WAY off. I will keep you posted :)

Take care.

Re: Pre-Teaser Trailer (Script still underway)

I think it is hard to tell exactly how it looks on such a small clip. I couldn't quite make out the sheet metal surface, but what you say makes sense.

Good luck with the script. It sound like a love affair you're having ith it :)
