Horrible rolling bars in 50Hz land...

I've had my camera for about 3 months and all the footage I've been shooting under artificial light, especially under Compact Fluoro & Mercury Vapour lights, produces horrible rolling bars in all my D90 videos. Are other peeps who live in a PAL or 50Hz country experiencing this?

I see no adjustment for this in any menu which is kind of limiting in terms of shooting wedding reception footage :(

Yeah, if you use Koli's method and just pan the D90 around until the waves disappear then lock the exposure. A bit tedious but it works. The idea is to trick the D90 into a 1/50th shutter speed.

the day i stop making at least a little fun of newbies who ask the most commonly asked questions in the history of man as if they were new, please kill me. :-)

Thanks squig, I'll have to try that :) pity there's no better way to accomplish it...

Thanks Matt you're an asset to the community...

I'm afraid he actually is, which is why we put up with him. Matt developed the stair step removal. Without it the D90 would be unusable.....well I wouldn't have bought it for filmmaking anyway.

noise reduction filters that average several frames can work quite well, as long as it's subtle. secondary color correction can also work by reducing contrast in large uniformly colored areas.
