Renting Wide Angle / Telephoto Adapters for 170

Hi,

I'm trying to get these adapters for my 170 in Los Angeles and no one seems to have it. I thought Century/Schneider has both of these already on the market. Does anyone here own one and willing to rent it out ASAP?

Would DVX adapters work to some degree without major vignetting?

Thanks!

Hi David:

Nobody rents these because they only cost a few hundred dollars. I have the Schneider .06 WA, it is so great. Unfortunately I am on a project using it every day for ther remainder of March/April so I can't rent it to you.

DVX adapters will not work, not only because the bayonet mount is different but also because the glass is not designed for the greater resolution of HD.

I would just buy them. If you can't afford full boat, check out used on Ebay, Marketplace here, etc. I do see them occasionally for sale. If you can afford a Steadicam and an 170, surely you can afford an add-on lens or two? They are really worth having in your camera case, I use mine all of the time. They are not great for everything, but when you need them, you need them.

I actually would buy one if I knew where to get one. Is there any place in LA that stocks them? I have been calling around.

Do you know if they actually carry it? I tried them this morning and they didn't carry it in rentals and starting suggesting other rental houses. Their website doesn't list it in sales either.

David,
I just checked with our sales guys and we have 1 of the .6 WA and the 1.6 Telephoto available for sale. It does not look like Century has made a Wide Angle Converter for the 170/150 yet.

FYI the 170/150 share the same lens accessories, which makes sense since they're basically identical.

I wound up purchasing it from EVS. No one else in town seems to have it and it looks like I bought the last one available.
