FEATURE: NO GREATER LOVE - Official Thread - Feature Film

Color Grading - COMPLETE

Color Grading - COMPLETE

As of last Friday the final color grading of NGL is now complete! :)

We are receiving several DVD copies tonight to review, and I can't wait! It looks terrific!

Can't wait!

Can't wait!

I watched the NGL screener last night again with a few friends who hadn't seen it, including a gal who I didn't know very well... and everyone really liked it, and we discussed the film for at least a half an hour after, talking about the conflicts and the drama, and humanity in the film... I am so excited to get this out for people to see! :)

Food for thought...

Food for thought...

Was reading in Proverbs today (and this isn't intended to start any kind of "religious discussion by the way) and came upon this verse which is something I need to always keep in mind, and those here in this industry can certainly take as food for thought...

Proverbs 14:23
In all toil there is profit, but mere talk tends only to poverty.

Proverbs 14:23

But this doesn't apply to movies, because by definition movies aren't "toil."

What I mean is that in making movies there may be no profit. In fact, some of us have lost our shirts even.LOL

And "mere talk", well, I'm not sure I agree with that; that's what PR is all about.

Please correct me, because I don't want to be right. LOL

Is that right after,

"Everyone in Hollywood has a script to sell" ?

Filmman -- What it means is that you will profit by actually doing something instead of just sitting around talking about it. I think...

The proverb right after that I find more interesting...

Proverbs 14:24
And if you do happen to profit, make sure you tithe.

LOL.
I was insulted....
Thanks Aurant for helping me out :-)
Sometimes a certain passage is applied to a situation and it doesn't apply. The Scriptures have to be interpreted correctly, otherwise their wisdom is wasted.
That's why THE TEMPTATION OF CHRIST, THE PASSION OF THE CHRIST, DA VINCI CODE, ANGELS & DEMONS, CHARIOTS OF FIRE -- all of them are blasphemous movies, because they all interpret the Scriptures not the way it was intended.

Also, if you look at the atrocities that are committed in the name of God (by all religions), you will find that the Scriptures are always interpreted wrong.

But this proverb was just reminded me of how easy it is to treat the Scriptures lightly. I don't consider movie making as "toil", that's all I'm saying in regards to this proverb.

However, the movie NO GREATER LOVE seems to be a positive and inspirational movie and I truly mean that. I wish it the greatest success. And I hope the producers will continue making movies that tell the positive benefits of the Scriptures when applied correctly.

It kind of came off like I was saying you don't do anything Filmman... that isn't what I meant. I know you've made many movies...

Yah and I'm probably going to hell now because I made up the next proverb.

Maybe he was referring to the business end of making movies.

Oh, like that~ LOL

Yeah, that Brandon is too cool to say anything against filmmakers :-)

Well, so that's that.

What's this you say about another proverb? Tithing? You don't believe that, do you?

No, tithing, that's over with. Tithing was ok before Jesus came. Jesus said, "Give to Caesar what belongs to Caesar (he held out the coin with Caesar's image on it) and to God what belongs to God (and we know God doesn't need money, don't we?)"

So, the best way to tithe is put ten percent in the movies you're making and enjoy the 90%. This is not my attempt at a proverb, btw.LOL

Yeah, you do. You bought a copy of my movie BUTTERFLIES IN THE WIND :-) And NO GREATER LOVE is a movie with a Christian theme also. So tithing among filmmakers is definitely a good thing.

Someday it will be my pleasure to post a blog here that will trace one of my major efforts to do the story of the New Testament from an ultra conservative perspective.

It is not a popular perspective, to be sure, but someone has to do it :-) and it will be a pleasure to do it too. It's going to be hard to finance, as movies have been relegated to the realm of the unprofitable ventures by the SEC and the commercial lenders.

In fact I read a lengthy report on one of the government sites that compares filmmaking to drilling for oil as a risky venture. It warns investors to avoid investing in movies.

But as far as I'm concerned (and I speak only as a filmmaker), filmmaking is the least risky of all investments. And if anyone wants to debate that, don't bother; just turn on your TV to the news channels. QED. LOL

NO GREATER LOVE goes International!

NO GREATER LOVE goes International!

NO GREATER LOVE is screening in the Faith Film Festival in 8 cities in South Africa, from May 8-14. So far NGL has been selling out and has been the "most attended at the festival thus far." Considering the heavyweight lineup at this festival, we are even more humbled.

You can check out the festival at:

Congrats Brandon.
Hey, by the way just saw a friend of yours Daniel Noa in Washington DC at the GI Film Festival. His film was in the same screening room as mine and in his DVD menu was a preview button for Smugglers Ransom. Small world!
