For anyone considering buying an HMC150...

I just received my HMC150 this morning and have been shooting with it all day. All I can say is that this camera is fantastic! Definitely meets if not exceeds the expectations. I came from a DVX as I'm sure many have and this camera is what everyone has always wanted the dvx to be. A lot better quality video, 16:9, tapeless, better controls and more control, better in low light, and I could go on.

Anyone considering buying this camera but is not sure I will be extremely surprised if you were disappointed. Footage straight from the camera, no lighting, no editing looks many, many times better than DVX. Now think about once you've got a lighting setup, proper color correction, etc.

Have not done any editing yet and hopefully that will go smoothly for me without too many hiccups as my Mac Book Pro is 3 years old; however, that does not in any way take away from the camera!

i have yet to find a flaw to this camera besides its outrageous battery price

Yeah, those Panny batteries are pretty steep. For that price they better last a lifetime like my current Sony L-series bricks. I've had many of them for 4-5 years and they are still within 100% of their capacity. I love 'em.

hey guys, i've been SERIOUSLY considering the HMC150 for the past few months. The final source will end up being blu-ray, dvd, and the web. My first gig will be for music video for an artist and mainly interviews and documentary and some green screen. how well does the image hold up on a 70" plasma or LCD? i've seen some amazing green screen footage so it seems the 4:2:0 color space will not be a problem on this cam? I haven't been this excited since the original DVX came out. Thanks for your feedback!

I have a 52" HDTV and the image looks really good, great color, and crisp. I have not seen it on anything bigger than that but if you are burning a blu-ray dvd and playing on that tv i'm sure that would look awesome.

I have gone from the camera through HDMI into the tv and the only time i've seen any slight bit of pixilation is in low light.

Does the HMC support component? My Plasma doesn't have HDMI... then again, it's not an HDTV plasma anyways..

Maybe its just the screens I've tried, but I find the colors/brightness are quite a bit different from component compared to HDMI. Still looks great, but figure it isn't as true to the actual picture. You'll really be missing out if it isn't HD getting only 480i, but still looks much better than a DVX.

720p can look good on a movie screen, so this camera is more than good enough for any TV today. It isn't as sharp as higher detail cams like the EX1 which is most noticeable on landscape or zoomed out shots. On more close up shots, esp with background out of focus (typical of music videos), the footage will look just as good with better color to boot. It is just like the DVX, only better in every way.
