DVX100a with 225 hours Mack Warranty - $1000

Used DVX100a with 225 hours. It is in good condition, shoots footage just fine and shows normal wear. The lens is just about perfect, used a UV filter in front of it 85% of the time.

*Has received Mack Warranty Service for the PSD NG Error in 2007. This warranty was registered on 1/30/2007 for four years, and the warranty can be transferred for $20, this is up to the buyer if they wish to get the warranty or not, doesn't change my sale price.

The item would include;
72mm Quantaray UV filter
72mm Hoya Polarizer filter
Strap
Remote
Firewire 4 pin to 6 pin cable
AV cable
Barry Green's DVX book
Owner's Manual
A hard case (this was a hard case that I just taped some foam inside... IS functional but is kind of janky looking)

There are NO BATTERIES or CHARGER with this. I need them for my HVX.

Buyer pays for whatever kind of shipping they want. Paypal preferred unless local to southeast Michigan. I am Paypal verified, 100% ebay feedback, and have bought/sold on these boards before. Please EMAIL ME - mike(at)wilkinsonvisual.com

I placed and kept a clear plastic strip in front of the LCD to keep it form getting scratched/dirty.

As you can see in the above photo, i did carve my initials into it. I did also have my business card taped onto the bottom, and there is some slight residue left form the tape. The threads of the mounting hole are fine.

Problems with firewire communication to PC?

Problems with firewire communication to PC?

Mike,

First, I'm practically a neighbor of yours, living in Ypsilanti. Teach at EMU, too.

Second, I'm wondering if you have ever had problems with transferring video from the DVX100A to computer by firewire.

I have had two of the DVX100A video cameras for about five years. They have performed admirably. Transfer of video from camera to computer has never been a problem.

Suddenly, yesterday, I have to transfer video from a shoot. Same computer, same firewire connector. Now there's no recognition by the computer of the camera.

My backup system is 2 Canons. So I get out the Canons, load up the DV cassette in one of them. Use the firewire to connect to the PC. Great, it goes, I transfer the video. Next cassette, load it up. No connection! No recognition by the computer.

I get out the 2nd Canon and the 2nd DVX100A. Loading the cassette to be transferred into each of them, I still get no response on the firewire. No recognition by the computer.

Next backup, go to another computer. Take the 2nd Canon, load up the cassette with the video to be transferred. Firewire works perfectly, so I download that video onto this second computer. All OK. Just a little wierd.

So just to make sure, and to perhaps catch any problems that are not obvious, I try again to use the firewire to transfer video from the cassette onto computer, with both of the Canons and both of the Panasonics, and on both computers. Now I am unable to get either computer to acknowledge any of the four cameras! I change firewires, using 2 new ones never been used, right out of the Canon boxes. No luck here either. So four cameras, two PCs and three firewires, and no capability to transfer the video to PC.

I'm hoping you might have had enough experience with your DVX100A, or any firewire transfers to PC, to be able to tell me how I can effectively troubleshoot this problem. At the moment I apparently don't have any way to get video off any of the cameras onto either of the computers. Yet one time, each Canon, on each computer, it worked. And it ALWAYS use to work without flaws for the past 8 years. I'm stuck. And in a panic, because I've got another shoot coming up in a week and really need to solve this problem.

Is there something about firewires I am not knowing or seeing? Something about the IEEE1394 connection to the cameras? Computers? How about the possibility of static electricity? I try to ground myself frequently when doing these things.

Thanks for any help you can give on this.

And congratulations on the quick sale of your DVX100A. But the price certainly was right!

Thanks again!

Best regards,

John Fike
