TOKINA 11-16 vs. 12-24

Does anyone have a definitive answer or opinion on which is sharper, the Tokina 11-16 or 12x24 and does the extra stop, f/2.8 vs. f/4, really improve performance. It seems that the Model II 12-24 with the internal silent motor is a more efficient auto-focus lens when used on the D90.

I bought the 11-16 Tokina after trying out a friends 12-24. Love it.

Not sure if this has been thought of, but I don't think that the Tokina has an aperture ring.
It must be controlled in camera which does make for some difficulty when going after settings and AE-Locking.
This is of course only a nuisance when Recording video. As a photo lens first and foremost, it does indeed take GREAT photos.
McGee, can you elaborate on it's video usage?

Thanks, Matt. Just ordered the 11-16 after seeing your photo!
Thanks Scott, that photo is GREATLY reduced for the web size.

At 100% you can EASILY read the scoreboard.

A lot of guys with REDs use it with the Underhal mount to control aperture.

They love it too.

Ironically, or maybe not, I just sold my old Widelux F7 on e.bay to come up with the $ for the 11-16 purchase. I see uses for the Tokina in both stills and the D90's HD capabilities. Who knows...

Or with the Birger mount at the Canon side, as I intend to do.

Ok, I bought it. Here's a single frame from a new timelapse D200 project shot with the Tokina 11x16. Also linked is the Vimeo file. Extremely sharp and I couldn't be happier with the decision to purchase. Next up is a D90 shoot.

snp i enjoyed the view clip, but there is one question regarding the 660clips you took and arranged to make the video. wil it effect the d90 shutter count. if so then shutter needs to be replaced often??, i just bought a d90 few ned of last year, just needed some information.

i have it as well , the tokina 11-16mm i use it with the d90 , http://www.vimeo.com/3584885 this is just messing around with the video ,shot hand held with available light , using the d90 and tokina 11-16 mm f 2.8 no editing straight from camera
