camera test for indie-feature, with 5Dm2...seriously.

@Eaton

That footage looks freekin' awesome. Why can the EX1 look like that out of the box. Man if the Ex1 or the Panny Hpx300 looked like that with littl eto no rolling shutter that would be the perfect camera. Instead we have to push footag ethrough adapters and everything else. Sigh... one day i'll own a big boy camera. :-(

Also if anyone tries to output via HDMI to CD's Flash XDR please post some footage. With the Long GOP 100MBps codec, the only issues with thsi camera will be 24p and more jello in the motion.

Thanks jls4. I will be posting a clip from that footage at some point. (retimed to 24p too)

Didn't mean to hijack your thread, Hunter. I'm really excited to see what you can pull off with the 5D2 and your film.

I'm now sold. the resolution on this cam is just sick. if ican get my footage looking like this with no more need for light sucking adapters. i'm in.

At around 15-20 seconds, it looks slightly off to me. I thought maybe something from the rolling shutter.

Could be vimeo though, as it never plays perfectly for me. Regardless, the footage looks stunning. I think the camera is a good choice for the type of story you're making.

Good luck!

The 24p conversion is by interpolation of the "problem" frames, it doesn't actually speed up or slow-down the playback which remains at 100% of the source.

I know I'm going to get beat down for this but why not simply shoot 30p? If you're going straight to video why not just go for 30.

...Because 30p doesn't look like 24p. It doesn't have the same motion cadence, blurring looks different, camera motion appears different, it is a very noticable difference in my opinion.

Do you think any feature film shooting on 35mm would opt to shoot 30p instead of 24p just because they knew they were ultimately ending up on DVD?

...And I in no way mean to "beat you down" by saying that. :)
