Bad experience with sound-room.com

I bought my last mic from Paul. He is a gentleman and a scholar. Nice guy, does what he says he will do. He is getting all of my audio business in the future.

sennheiser makes a mic plug transmitter just for this
http://www.bhphotovideo.com/bnh/con...hs=sennheiser+plug&ci=9674&basicSubmit=Submit
just match your frequencies. don't think they have phantom power though
... dunno about doing it with just the standard transmitter

Thanks Jack;
Yep, I am ok with hooking it up to the Sennheiser but I just don't know how it will work with a Phantom Power Box which is what I need to do, provide power to the Octava since I don't want to use it wired directly to the camera.

Paul, do you wan to jump in here with an answer? Thanks.
Steve

Howdy,

I occasionally use a Denecke box clamped on a small stand inline with a Sennheiser plug-on to power an Oktava or 4073a when I need to hide something.

I ordered my Oktava from the Sound Room and although they forgot to include my special order suspension kit and I had to call to remind them of it, I will still order from them again. Everyone deserves one chance or error. Of course, if they make a second mistake......MUAHAHAHAHAH

Next time I'll PM you my prospective thread asking for your permission lolz

But I posted this here incase anyone was thinking about buying from that site... they might like to know information about things like this. Don't get your panties in a twist, or briefs in a bunch.

I appreciate your post. I've been trying to order the same microphone and some accessories via their website and their shopping cart is not working. I add the items and when I go to check out my shopping cart says it is empty. I've sent them 2 emails with no response and keep getting a recorded message when I call. I've left 2 messages over 2 days with no call back yet. Today is day 4 since I sent the first email. The least they could do is reply to the email or return your call in a timely manner. Their lack of a response made me wonder if they are still in business which led me to do a google search which is how I found your post. I can't seem to find this microphone anywhere else so I am hoping there is some kind of reasonable explanation of why it is taking them so long to respond to me.

If anyone from Sound Room is reading this please contact Levetta so I can place an order. You have my contact info in the emails and voice messages left.

Ill have to chime in now. In this industry there does exist a few companies that offer speciality products / make their own products and operate on limited staff to be able to give us the prices we want to pay. As was mentioned these companies arent like walmart, where you can speak to some generic robot who doesnt want to work there immediately. Sometimes it does take a few days to a week to get back to everyone, but when they do you get someone knowledgeable and usually in the industry because they want to be.

Now I ordered from Paul in the past (when I was out of Tokyo) - and the correspondence I did get was from someone who really did seem to genuinely care about his clients. Im not saying this to be part of the crowd - I am merely talking from my experiences.

Paul and soundroom get a thumbs up from me.

I'm going to quote him again because I don't think a lot of people(well some) are reading what he wrote. In response to those saying they can't get a response via email and no one answers when they call please see the bolded information below as well as read Paul's entire message.

nounou/Reese,
Please accept my apology for not meeting your expectations.

I hope you can understand that we are dealing with a product from Russia. It's not as easy as ordering other products from a local distributor here which is only 2 days shipping to our location. Russia is at least a week shipping. Plus, I cannot order just a single microphone from Oktava and have it shipped here.

So if we run out, I generally have to wait until a sufficient order is put together. Without going into details of our operation, what you should understand is that it can sometimes take a couple of weeks to get product here in the USA. Though sometimes it works out that we have stock when an order is placed. Plus, it's needless to say that doing business with Russia is not exactly like doing business with an American company.

I thank you for switching your order to a silver mic. I can offer you this: use (don't abuse) the silver mic for a few weeks. When our next shipment arrives with the black mics, I'll contact you. If at that time you still want a black one, you can ship your silver mic back to me at my expense, and I'll send you our a brand new black one. Let me know if that's acceptable to you.

I appreciate everyone's comments here and thank you for your business. The Sound Room is an extremely small operation (me and my brother) and it is me that runs all of the day to day operations. In addition to an economy that has all but evaporated retail businesses (and many other businesses in general) it's also been a difficult year personally. Because of this I am certain that I have missed an email or two, or have been delayed by a day or two in my responses. Ultimately there's no excuse for that level of service and I am sorry.

I pride myself in the service we provide and it pains me to know I've dropped the ball in Reese's case. I will look into a way to keep track of inventory on the site and have something switch on if we are out of stock... this will take some time though as web design is not my strong suit, but I will see if there's a way to do this.

We do appreciate the business and will certainly try harder this coming year to provide better service.

All the best,
-Paul

I'd like to hear again from the OP - maybe something like "yes, I was too quick to jump on him. Things are resolved and things are good." In his defense, he did add "at this moment" in his original complaint. Has that moment now passed?

More than cleaning up from your original post, a "mia culpa" can go far in re-establishing yourself on here.

Think about it.

That's exactly what I was thinking as I read through these posts...
