35mm adapter rig photos

You can use the Zacuto Universal Donut with your RR mattebox. You have to get a stepdown ring... but Redrock designed that mattebox smart and made holes for all sorts of things... like the ARRI bellows and the such.

I already have a Zacuto type of Universal donut for less than $90. I've made it myself. I'm not sure what type of cloth they used but $90 seems quite expensive for me. All it took was a piece of velcro, stretchy cloth and some stitching to do and that's it.

mozingopj,

is your picture upside down when you shoot with that? I'm just learning about lenses, I'm researching to buy a setup for my HVX. And if you don't mind me asking, how much did you spend total on that setup WITHOUT the camera.
Thanks,
Luis

Luis,

Yes, the image is upside down when shooting. You would need to either buy the $545(not sure on exact price) MicroX flip adapter or use mirrors to somehow make the image right side up. I believe there are plenty of M2 users who use an external monitor, but I personally don't have the money right now and do more "run and gun" style shooting....so the added weight is too much. The M2 is a great device and I'm beginning to learn it's potential, just waiting for the weather to get warmer in Ohio to shoot more outside stuff.

I bought the M2 (without the camera) with the Nikon 50mm f/1.8 lens for $715 shipped through a user here on DVXuser.com. I'd suggest looking in the marketplace forum for a used one as it helps when you are just starting out and don't have to spend thousands on a brand new one.

Just acquired a Nikon 300mm f/2.8 for...well...free.

I'll upload a detailed shot later when I put my rig back together, so here's a teaser...

mozingopj,

Dude! thanks for that info! it's weird I didn't think about that before... like if I get an adapter without the flipper thing then I can use and external monitor and turn it upside down. I wish my HVX would have came with an upside down switch!
By the way I'm also waiting for the weather to break. But at least it's giving me time to do all the research on the setup I'm aiming for.

on another note... I had forgotten all about the DVX marketplace.
thanks a million!
Luis

Sony EX3 + SG Blade (rotorazor 2) + RR Follow focus + RR Shoulder mount + Ikan V8000HD monitor.

We also have a RR Mattebox which is not on the photo. :)

It seems to me that all of these adapter rig with shoulder support does not show any balance at all even if it has a shoulder support. It is still heavier on the front than the back. I'm not sure if it helps at all.

Not actually mine. I think It's being used for the production of a TV drama in Malaysia.

Wow, digging that dolly! That's some serious DIY.

That Malaysian footware is interesting for a set too! ;-)

Is that a 4 or a 5 piece dolly kit? because I see an extra accessory on the floor.

That's why I don't trust friends that say "I have one, I'll bring it with me"

LOL...

I came from a third country and it shows you that if you are good at what you're doing, you don't have to have the latest and greatest equipments.

If you mean third world country... I know a few people in Malaysia who will dissagree with you :)

But definitely yes, you don't need the latest to be the best, but a HVX200 is not exactly ancient :)

Actually I used to have rigs similar to that one with wheel chairs as a base.

I didn't mean to say Malaysia is a third world country. I was simply talking about where I came from. And I was commenting on the "4 or a 5 piece dolly kit" and not the camera itself.

In fact, I am still building my own dolly track system. Not as good as the pros but it'll do the job.
