Merge AVCHD videos

If you feel like you want to get back to the old system of 1 big file for some reason, or you want to compile several MTS files together there is a very simple way to to that.

There is no loss in quality whatsoever (since it's only muxing) and it works GREAT!!!
I've tested it today and I love it!
oh, and it's free.

Download the software, run the GUI and add a file, than press "Append" and add all the other files. you can add hundreds of videos, and it works really fast!!!
export to m2ts and than rename it to .mts .

Once you are ready to go extreme you can make your own scripts and run the command line version:
tsmuxer.exe file.meta "output.m2ts" (file.meta is a text file with the script).
I have prepared an excel VBscript that gets a list of files (easily obtained with "Path to clipboard" directly from Shell) and merges them with tsmuxer.

If anyone's interested I'll post it.

I would rather divide them instead of merge them.
Do you have a way to do that into 1 gig files?

In theory you can just split the file at an arbitrary position, but in reality this won't work well because of the long GOP of the AVC coding. What you would need is a tool which can split an MTS file stream at the I-frame points in time. I've been searching for such a tool as well, but I couldn't find any.

Just tried and it says "Unsupported format. Can't detect stream type."

Not really sure why...
works for me...
Just tried splitting both 1080/25p and 720/25p files and it worked.

Are you using the GUI?
if not than you have done something not in the correct syntax.

I've tried opening some 720/60p footage with drag and drop and "add". Both lead to the same result.
