Just received my HMC150

UPS dropped it off, I unboxed it, and waiting for my first charge. Did anyone else get that gitty feeling before their first recording with HMC150?

Initial thoughts, decent design and my lord is this thing light. Way lighter than I had ever expected. I was expecting around the same weight as the VX2000. Im happy though a little bit concerned with the amount of plastic.

Loved seeing the upgrade from 1 to a 3 year warranty after registering.

Anyone know how easy it is to transfer from AVCHD to potential film for a theater release?

Congrats on the camera. Hope you sent off for the extended battery and 8GB SDHC card as part of the rebate promotion.

Im happy though a little bit concerned with the amount of plastic.

the main shell housing of the camera is not plastic. Its a magnesium alloy chassis that is very strong yet very light, but do not confuse it with plastic. It is metal- read the bottom of the spec sheet:

Mr. Diaz caught a photo or a scalped HMC:

So although there might be a thin layer of plastic covering the chassis, rest assured the housing is not. Its the same stuff they use to make the shell of Panasonic Toughbooks, which is used by the Army for field use.

Wow, didn't realize it was that. So now I feel even better about my purchase than I did prior. Im loving this camera more and more every passing moment.
