Cost of P2 Cards in Canada

Before X-mas I got my AG-HVX-200 AP with an extra 8 hour battery for $5500 Canadian.

Since then, the price has gone up by almost $2,000.

I just got off the phone with "Leo's Camera Supply" in Vancouver as I am desperate to unlock the variable frame rates and to finally shoot some HD footage:

16 gb P2 Card: $1300 before taxes
32 gb P2 Card: $2400 before taxes!

Just too expensive for me right now, so I posted a thread in this forum and have just finished purchasing a 16 gb card from user "Mr. Dorf" for $850 Canadian shipped.

So, although I'll be running back and forth from my computer in the studio for a while, I'm still very excited to finally unleash the power of the HVX!

I've been saying for a long time p2 cards are overpriced and panasonic canada isn't doing the Canadian resellers any favours, they probably wonder why so many Canadians shop in the states.

I hate to say it, but I buy all my big purchases in the states. So much cheaper. Even Cavision that is blocks from my house is 1/3 cheaper on US sites.
Sad but true. Oh, and the best prices in Vancouver for Panny stuff will be ProVision or Vidcom. I don't know how the other shops can charge even more and still sell the stuff.

hey media monster , i am on the island and rent p2 cards. as well as a wide .75 zoom through for your hvx200 . lorne laphem in van is competitive with some products but being a canadian retailer ,the don,t get the deals the u.s. dealers do. my web site is www.jetaddiction.com
