This does NOT come with the rails and head in this photo. The dolly has a standard 3/8" hole in the center so you can mount a standard tripod head. I have a few options, including the ball-head in the photo, so if you need a tripod head, we can either work something out or I can just give you advice on where you can find something that would work for you.

This dolly is smooth. It has been used a few times, but I just put brand new wheels on it. Since that point I shot one test video that you can watch here on Vimeo to see it in action. There's really no reason to watch it in HD so if you're on a slow connection, or if your computer is doing other things or if you're seeing any kind of jerkiness in the video, please watch the SD version so you can see how smooth the motion is.

The dolly is a DIY but performs and looks pro. Through my DIY testing, prototyping and creation process, I ended up making two complete dollies. I have no need for two, so I'm selling this one.

Let me know if you have any questions.

EDITED to fix a typo regarding the size of the hole where the head mounts.

That's beautiful. I wish I have the craftsmenship to DIY something like that. I'm very tempted to buy it.

Thanks for the complements, min lee. It took me some time and attempts to get there, but I'm definitely happy with the results. At some point just for laughs I'll post some pictures of my plywood attempts. Whooo. Quite a sight! :)

A couple other things I wanted to mention in general. I was asked via PM what the size and weight were. I haven't weighed it yet, but it's about 18" x 15". I've used it with a Canon XHA1 on one shoot and with the HV20 for that video on Vimeo. Also I wanted to mention that I've had numerous transactions and bought and sold literally thousands of dollars worth of stuff here on dvxuser with zero problems. You can search up my other posts in the marketplace forum.

Thanks

what sort of weight do you think it can handle? HVX with a 35mm adapter + lens?....

Yeah, I have no doubt it would be fine. I used an XHA1 + SGPro + rails + mattebox + 11" HD monitor on a mount all on top of an Amvona ATH-05H ball head on this dolly with no problem. (well, let me say that the weight wasn't a problem. The only 'problem' was that the full rig was really top heavy with my monitor on top and using a ball-head mount effectively means that everything is teetering on a single metal post the thickness of my pinky. But that was an issue when tripod mounted as well and was not related to the dolly)

I'm not sure how to technically 'weight test' it to come up with a number but it's tough for me to imagine what might be 'too heavy' for it. I guess a 16mm camera like an SR with a full 400' load might cause it some problems, but I'd bet that even an Arri S would be fine.

Here's a pic of exactly what I'm selling. In other words, a picture without the head and rails on it

I bought the dolly from Texanite, and it came quickly and carefully. The dolly itself is as good as any store bought model. Communication was and is spectacular. Transactions like this renew my faith in humankind. Thanks, Matt
