No more free P2 card with hpx170/hvx200

Usually when an offer like this gives a deadline, it usually means they are going to change it. Plus, April is NAB month. Panasonic may start offering a 32GB card instead with purchases. But take what I say with a grain of salt. It's just one of those things I notice that a lot of companies do.

Plus I doubt Panasonic would stop including a P2 card all together unless P2 prices were going down.

The offers always have an expiration date, but that does not mean that the offer will not be renewed or that they might have a better special offer. Past rebates for other panny cameras have been extended several times.

Just have to wait and see.

Later.

But the current website states that it comes standard in the US with a 16gb P2 card, it doesn't say this was ever a promotion before.

edit: Nope, just checked it out with a reseller, the 16gb card was never part of the 'standard' agreement so they're expiring it March 31st (with the option to renew it of course).

cause the new 128 gb card is coming out in a month so I would think the free 16 gb is getting fazed out in favor of the 32 gb

a little birdy told me the 128 card might go for $4k, 64 card for $2k... but I wouldn't bet on a major price drop..

To echo back to what Jason said: special offers always have an expiration date. The DVX rebates/offers expired and were renewed frequently. But sometimes these offers change.

So the current offer expires at the end of this month. That doesn't necessarily mean that there won't be any offer starting next month. They might decide to renew the offer. Or give a more generous offer. Or a less generous offer (maybe they give out a 4GB or 8GB card instead?) Or maybe they discontinue all offers, since other companies and products have even been raising prices.

Only thing we can say for certain is that if you want a guaranteed free 16gb card, you'd better buy before the end of this month; understanding that they might in fact extend the offer, or replace it with a lesser offer, or replace it with a better offer. There's a bit of a gamble there. It's up to you.
