Like new Cartoni F100 Focus head (purchased new 12 months ago from Abel Cine) and Miller Solo VJ Tripod for sale. Includes a Porta Brace TS38A mummy bag. Bag has a slight damage on one section of zipper but still works (they charge $50 to repair at Porta Brace - you pay shipping). This set-up is rock solid and performs great. I would keep for sure, but 2009 has started off dead and I have a back up tripod and need the money. Includes Miller strap, but minus the screw that holds the strap (I never use strap, but will include). Screw is $25 from Miller. If this was purchased new today it would be $2171 plus shipping from B&H, my price is $1375 and includes shipping and Paypal fees (shipping in Cont. US).

If you are thinking about moving up to a real tripod, this is the one for you! Weight range is 2-22lbs

Thanks for looking,
John

I tested a lot of heads and liked the Cartoni alot. The Sachler and Vinten are both very good. The Vinten has a different feel than the others (the way the resistance varies) that you might prefer. That said, I use a 503.

Testing them all, I found the difference with a 6 pound camera setup to be small The 503 was smooth and the handle extends, which improved by precision. I have a remote on the end of the handle that adjusts focus/iris/zoom/recording and often use the camera connected to DVRack on laptop.

On the tripods, I like having a lower leg brace above the floor. Studio stuff is on the floor, but I find that doesn't work in too many real world situations, even indoors. The brace also allows for configuring the legs at fairly narrow angles for more height.

Although it costs more, I strongly recommend carbon fiber legs...in the end of the day, moving around aluminum legs gets tiring. And that shows up in your shoots. At least mine.

I have both a barrel and regular leg tripod. The barrel is more rugged. However, the regular one is more flexible and quicker to deploy (I have a Bogen 542 ART).

As for heads, I have also been looking at the rather large but interesting Varizoom Zero Gravity. Bogen also has a 519 which is very smooth if you are looking at $1000 heads.

One last note, tripods and heads don't get obsolete as quickly as cameras; you may have it a long time. In the end, you may not notice the extra few hundred.

Would you consider shipping that set to Europe (Italy)? For your confidence, I've already purchased a few other pieces of equipment on this forum and I've got an immaculate feedback on eBay.

Tks

A sale is in the mix and probably a done deal, but check back in a little while. I will post when it is a final, final sale.

Thanks.
