Hey bro,

I was watching the tornado hit Edmond today at 3:00pm ish (on tv :), Damn!)did you get any action? Anymore trees up rooted?

The tornado was about 3 miles north of where I live here in Edmond. At the time it hit, I was some 30+ miles to the south in Norman shooting car commercials (yippee!). I returned home to find everything okay in my neighborhood but electricity was out in various surrounding businesses. My cat was waiting outside my front door soaking wet and full of fuss.

I believe Hawk lives in Moore (between Norman and OKC) maybe he has an experience to share.

fyi, the strongest wind ever recorded on the face of the Earth was in Moore, OK.

Glad to hear it bro, Fred Plowman and I brought your name up today after Reed T's team left that storm to get on another cell close by your storm.

Are you watching the weather channel? There is a whole neighborhood of upscale $800k+ homes ruined which is rare because the tornadoes we know are prejudice and usually only go after mobile homes.

I will! We normally meet for taco's and beer's every tuesday in off season but he cancelled tonight, he and his wife have been busy moving into thier new home.

The first one in OKC touched down about a mile north of where I work (work in Bethany, live in Moore). Everyone was brought to the basement a few times for safety, but nothing happened here ... except the loss of a Chucky Cheese.

On a more serious note, southern Oklahoma was hit pretty hard. People are still missing. My friend lives down in that area. He and his family were lucky this time.

Yeah, when I moved out here in 2003, I kept hearing about this May 3rd tornado. I was like, "I've made it through 3 hurricanes the size of texas, what could one tornado really do?" Then I saw a KOCO (or some news channel) special report video on it. I was blown away (npi) by it. Ever since then, any tornado siren that's NOT at noon on Saturday gets my attention REAL quick.

Even being in Tulsa, I remember that May 3 tornado in vivid detail. Was at a high school football game (powderpuff I think) and they started getting on the loudspeakers as we were leaving telling us about a line of storms headed our way. Luckily they were rather weak when they approached but the news coverage was just devastating to watch.

Glad you guys both escaped this one unscathed. Hopefully this season wont be a terrible one. Maybe some fancy big tornadoes for Chip, but perhaps they'll be in open fields :)

Terry & Jeff, here's a pic for you of me and Plowman running after a F4 in a field last season. Good thing this one was only in a field, if a town were near buy it would have been really bad. This sucker turned into a giant wedge about 2 min after this pic.

I always say I want to go storm chasing and get something like that, but everytime it comes, it's raining so hard that I can't see a blasted thing.

It's a lot harder than people think to postition yourself so you have a photogenic image / shot without killing yourself in the process. Shooting a rain wrapped tornado that you can't see is easy. Shot's like this are very rare. That was a highly compressed uncolor corrected screen shot from my hvx footage.

There is no way to forget that night. I lived in Tulsa at the time too and was pretty young and scared sh*tless. Good to hear that no fellow dvxuser's were hurt.
