how long on average will the heads last on a dvx 100a

So I have 550 hours on my dvx 100a and i have taken it in to have a professional head cleaning once when it reached 450 hours and plan too now every 100 hours or so. So I am due for a professional head cleaning.

my question though is say you take good care of your camera, never run the head cleaning tape, and get the camera cleaned every 100 to 200 hours, how long realistically can the heads go for on the dvx 100a

not the longest amount of hours or shortest, but more on average. Do these cameras go for 2000 hours on average or 1000 or 5000

just curious.

My camera is totally fine but I am debating buying a back up just in case. I guess even if the heads do go out...it is what a 700 dollar replacement on the heads for brand new heads???? I think

still not horrible

just would like some educated answers here

PANASONIC RECOMMENDS AFTER ABOUT 1500 HOURS TO REPLACE THE HEADS.....MY TECH SAID IT COULD PROBABLY SAFELY GO TO 2000 HOURS
 
I read 2000 is about average before they begin to give problems. Of course you may get more or less depending on how you use it as well as the quality of tapes you use.

Some of the more inexpensive tapes leave a nasty residue.
I'll try to post a link if I can remember where I found it.

In the cameras VCR mode there is a command in the menu that will show how many hours are logged. I'm not sure off the top of my head how to get to it but it's there and I'm too lazy to go get my camera this morning.

Scroll through the menu in VCR mode , you should find it there:thumbup:

thanks! i ve found it. and it says 640hours already. hope it doesnt give up on me yet.
