••Nikon D400 - 1080p 24fps $1999••

it will be at least another six months before nikon announces the d400.. there was an 19 month cycle between the d200 & d300, so we have plenty of time to shoot with our d90's till next september.

All I can say is that if the D400 comes out and has awesome features and is better than the d90...I will get it.

For now, I can't wait till tomorrow when i get my d90 with my rails, follow focus, mattebox and HDMI Ikan monitor. I feel like a child again. My love for making moving images is back baby!

Congrats. Take a picture!!!

many of us are looking to get this same setup.

oh yeah...try shooting with a GY-HD200 with Anton Bauer bricks, Monitor, Letus and Mattebox...all on your shoulder....you will loose that love for making films real quickly!

:)

I agree... at which point did carrying 20kgs become pleasurable?... the whole adapter thing has pushed me into the 5d markii IN A BIG WAY!!!

Dear Nikon,

Please, if you could be so kind, release this thing with good quality 1080/24p video and include FULL FREAKING MANUAL CONTOL for the video mode. Please oh please... if you do I will buy one and some lenses and other accessories and help make you rich.

I saw this earlier. I guess Amazon has a book ISBN already put in their system on the D400 written by Michael Gradias.

FREAKING MANUAL CONTOL for the video mode.

i doubt this will happen. it's all business/$ games. they will tax us a bit more and more for at least a year... and then perhaps we will see manual control...

that way they can sell 2+ cameras over time to the same user, rather than being nice and resolving it all in one...

Sadly, I have to agree with you on this one. I will be happy if they at least give us a better codec that doesn't have all the darn jaggies and macroblock mayhem.

I could be worse, at least they gave us 24p in the D90 and most likely in the D400. And if the D400 has 1080p instead of 720p, then that is a big step in the right direction.

:) nikon is forcing canon`s hand to the limits with 1080p/24p :)), hopefully we`ve been good beta testers, and they gained from our input/experiences.

i think nikon and canon are on this together. its like they had a meeting before d90 & 5d was relesased.

nikon said: we will capture 24p; and canon went 30p only. both purposely limiting both cameras in many similar ways... smells like a very carefully cut restrictions on both ends.

now they talked again: and nikon said to release d400 to match up to 5d in terms of 1080, but both agreed that they dont have to remove restrictions just yet as there's still 1 more generation where they can make money. before they release the right, manual cameras.

the above is speculation. but it is clear as day that the restrictions are in place for strategic reasons and that they were easy to not to put in place, yet they did.

yup, but both could easily jump too high
offering manual controls
but they dont, only carefully giving us crumbs

i wish they were a bit more rebels and a bit less business :)

Live view is designed for viewing, that's why it's automatic, even if you're purposly underexposing an image you want to see it bright for framing. I think they simply added recording to an already existing module. Frame rate? Same thing.
