What the F... What's the catch with the Canon 5D?

Somebody say something to discredit this camera. Come on people, we spent thousands of dollars on our equipement. We must have done something right. I don't want to be the only one left without a chair when the music stops.

Well, I see this camera as a great tool to a Videographer's arsenal: great DOF and wide selection of lenses available and great Low light capabilities, period. The HVX/HPX/HMC and the like (Sony/Canon/JVC) have a lot more going for them: robust codecs, variable frame rates, different recording formats, and great expandability, just to name a few. In the end, content is king! no matter if you use a DSLR, Video camera, or a cellphone.

I will not discredit the D90 because I own one and I love it. I also own a Sony EX1 and I love it too.

I like the D90 because it allows me to shoot pretty much everywhere. The EX1 attracts too much attention from bystanders and security. It also has better depth of field than the EX1.

Here's what I look forward to in the next couple of years:

- better D90 codec
- timelapse and variable frame rates
- 1080p
- more manual controls (shutter speed, iso, etc)

I like where our industry is going. I love both photography and videography and I often dislike having to lug around two sets of equipment.

Has anyone heard any news on future D90 developments?
