I loved it! Shot very well! I thought Dave gave a great performance! He easily does well w/ the comedy but this was pretty good! Mr. Lehre was one of the reasons I went through w/ buying an EX3.. well Dave + Phil Bloom of course!

I remember really digging one of the videos he made with the XL2.. his friend trying to kill him with a bat.. demolishing a house. It was sweet. This reminded me of it! Good work Michael & Daniel.

Nice work. You are very talented at age 18. Keep making films. I was impressed with the camera moves, concept, set design and lighting. Were you influenced by Requiem for a Dream?

mmm ... scene, colors, and a good deal of the "theme" looks & feels like a tear of my "haste the day" video which can be seen here :

green, desaturated tint, drug use, schizophrenia, mirrors, light bulb, etc.

ahhhhhh i dunoooooooo - might be over analyzing it but honestly, if you were to tell me you haven't seen Haste The Day before you made this, i might give you a funny look :)
 
Unfortunately, I gotta agree with Dan on this. First thing that came to mind when I watched the BTS of your project was Dans music vid. Not saying you did this deliberately, just something to be aware of, you know?

That being said, you guys did a pretty good job with it. The ending didn't do much for me though, it felt way to predictable. I feel like this story has been told many times before, I guess that's why it felt so predictable to me. The lighting and production value was great, but the story lacked originality and I knew what was going to happen from the very beginning. Don't wan to sound harsh, but those are my thoughts, take them with a grain of salt.

making an accusation of plagiarism isn't something you want to half-ass. you calling them out or not?

lol. calm down my bearded brother! and no, i'm not ... i'm saying there are SIMILAR ELEMENTS between the two. It's not a copy by ANY means and stands alone as an original work. but from MAKING one and then seeing the other, you can't help but say to yourself, "oh wow ... that reminds me of my video" ... make sense?
 
I just ran across this thread. Cool short, seen this story done on more then one occasion which of course there is absolutely nothing wrong with. Props for you in the execution. But I do agree with Dobi over here, there are a lot of similarities in the look, tone, style of the scene you guys have put together. You could probably cut these into one and wouldn't miss it, since this is what were talking about now. I totally understand where Dans coming from in regards of seeing something that looks exactly like your work and can't help but say something... Let the man stick up for his work!

Thank you all for the warm compliments on our work. Daniel and I thank you. Yes, I agree, the idea has been done before. However, we did strive for originality with switching things up.

Dan - Daniel and I have never seen your music video before. I can see where your coming from though. We strive to be unique and original. I thought we went to much like the "Saw + Texas Chainsaw" look but now a days it's going to look like something you didn't come up with and that's when story comes in to set you apart. That was our intention.

Frisco - thanks man, really appreciate the comments. Good feedback helps but good criticism humbles.

I do Agree with dan, the video did have the same tone as his but if he says he has never seen it then fair doos, i am a fan of that greenish tinty look ie: saw etc tho,

However the one critique i do have is, whats the point ? a boring drug short, shot well, looked nice but boring overdone and could of easily missed out on seeing it. kudos on the ex1 looking the sex tho!
