Hi,

I just got my new laptop, and im wondering if there is a way to plug it into my camera (Sony Z7) and use it as a monitor? I just think it would be useful for studio or on location to use for framing etc etc.

I know that quicktime pro will do this, but its a bit clumsy, just wondering if there was a full screen, HD solution?

Thanks.

when i first got my mac book pro i was all jazzed about using it as a monitor, well .... crap was one of those things that sounds like a good idea. just crap, move on . i wasted alot of time trying it.

There were at least two programs talked about a lot here on DVX User for using a computer as a monitor with built in scope and focus tool and I think they were able to capture as well. I was just trying to find them myself because I wanted to also use a macbook pro as a monitor.

I'm going to keep looking here in the archives.

I have found that using FCPs log and capture window enables you to use the waveform monitor and vectorscope. It's not full screen, and it doesn't replace a production monitor, but it's still helpful on set.

There are 2 Red lightning programs. HD monitor & DV monitor. Follow the link I provided to their site and you will see them both.

Has anyone used this software? If so I was wondering if you can run
this on a G4 with tiger OSX. I wont be using the capture feature just
purely for the scopes and monitoring.

Thanks guys
