2TB SD card.. with HMC support it?

What could likely happen is that a firmware update, could allow the camera to support full
AVC-Intra 100, non scaled image at 4:2:2 color space and 10 bit to these cards.

It should be possible, but would Panasonic do that?
I don't see why not, as it doesn't cut into higher formats dues to the lower sized chipset performance of the HMC150 (it would still be upscaled from the chip).

SDXC is FAT64, introduced back with Vista.

SD is FAT16
SDHC is FAT32

Many devices support SD and SDHC, why not SDXC too?

You can format a SDHC card to FAT64 or FAT16 or even NTFS if you wanted to.
If it can work with FAT32, there is a better chance of compatibility. If a firmware update is required, you have to hope that they adopt the format before this model goes out of production.

The processing involved with an intense codec like that requires new hardware specifically designed for its encoding. In fact, there is some nice hardware in the 150 to let it do what it does already. Trying to encode 1080p h.264 real-time is not an easy task.

Even if it could be done with an expansion or later models (and when cards are that fast), I just don't see it at this level. Again, DVX and HMC cameras are designed to use consumer formats. Have to go up a level to get a "pro" format. Right now, AVCIntra is like a super pro format only available on the big cams... think about the HVX/HPX owners that do not have it, and their cards already support the speed. I (and many others) would easily be convinced to move up to the 170 if it supported that codec.

we got an email this morning from our Panasonic rep about the new cards. What I got out of the email was that it if Panasonic supported the new cards, it would only be supported in future AVCCAM models.....He also told us to remind our customers that delivery of the new SDXC cards would be at least a year away.
