HMC150 and 2.4Ghz Macbook Pro 4Gb ram

Hello to all,

I am seriously thinking about buying the HMC150, but was wondering if the previous gen 2.4Ghz Macbook Pro with 4Gb ram will have any issues dealing with the HMC's avchd.

I've searched, and I read that the FCP 6.0.5 update was supposed to resolve some issue's but is there anyone that has a similar spec system and HMC150 hands on editing experience?

You should be fine. I have a 2.16 Core 2 Duo with 2gb of ram and I have been playing with footage people have posted on here and it handles it fine.
 
You will be transcoding the footage to another codec anyway so you will be fine. Im working with a dual core 2ghz G5 so you should be good to go.

hey there, our tech guy was at the Apple confab and reports that a panny rep told him our 2ghz G5 towers wouldnt be able to work with the 150 (that we are looking to buy)----have you had to do any thing special to get the the G5's to handle this workflow? or is the rep being over cautious?

No problems working with transcoded footage to AIC or DVCPROHD on the G5 with 2.5GB ram and FCP5. I'm sure any native handling of avchd will be a no go.
