Is FSU a good film school

I want to apply to a good film school, and my parents really want me to go because they all went to fsu for the longest time. I would like to go there, but i don't want to go there just for them, i want to go because i want to.

I'm want to go into music videos but it doesn't really seem that there is a really good school that lets you major in them. Any help would be appreciated.
is there any other really good collages that would help me learn more about music videos.

I have friends who went to FSU who did not major in film there, but said that the program was known for having a huge amount of equipment available to majors.

I thought that FSU was known for football, easy women, and not much else.

I don't think any school has a "music video" major, but the top film schools are USC, UCLA, AFI, and NYU.

I lived in Tallahassee (the Talla-nasty) for three years. I always heard good things about the film department there from past students who seemed to know their stuff.

Yeah my girl friend goes there and the school funds all of the student's films, so that's pretty cool, and they have a HUGE amount of gear for rental, as you said.

..easy women..

I think that's hardly relevant man..

The FSU film school is absolutely AMAZING. The resources they have at their disposal is the envy of a lot of better known programs. I've watched some of their productions and quite frankly, was impressed. Local support for the school is incredible as well.

They are VERY selective though taking in on 24 or so students per year. And yes, they do pay for student films. If you are looking for other solid programs in the south east, look at SCAD (Savannah, GA) alsol.

Thanks man, coming from you, that's very helpful.

Take my views for what they are worth. I've never been to film school, though I have considered trying FSU's and SCADs. I also don't do much narrative film work. However, I do have access to the local student screenings, and get to see some of the work that is produced. I have one friend in FSU film school at the moment, and another who was pretty unfocused and dropped out.

There are others who have a vastly better knowledge of the inner workings and national respect of the school, but I do get to see how it is supported in the local community.

I hear really good things about FSU from Film Grads. The DP from my first feature was an FSU grad and he's done very well and really spoke highly of FSU. A member of my writer's group was an FSU film grad too and he had a short fil that had made several festivals and he certainly liked going to FSU as well.

Several other friends from FSU weren't film school folks but still actually have an interest including the director of the 1st feature I ever worked on who wishes he'd tried to do the film program there rather than going to Ithaka's program.

I'm considering attending FSU and have researched the program somewhat extensively. It's pretty solid. One of the nice benefits is that they finance your productions, which means if you'll be shooting on film, the school buys the film stock and pays for the processing, telecine transfer, etc. I also heard that they have three RED One's, which might be fun to play around with.

I've seen some of the students films that have come out from FSU. The technical side seems solid.

yeah they have 8 REDs but only selected students can use them for their thesis film

It's funny because I'm interning at a film festival and one of the people I worked with mentioned FSU having a great film program.
