Hey guys, I'm Greg and I'm working on a film.
POUNDCAKE is an exploitation or "b-movie" style film split into 4 segments or "lives".
"El Rae" is the name of the main character in the film. He's generally of heroic-pose and always get's into bother. He is tough, mean and straight with his words. He doesn't take no for an answer and he doesn't give up.
We are unaware if he knows of his former lives in the film.
El Rae dies violently at the end of every segment/story to lead into his next life.
1st Segment "Doghouse Blues" - Written by Steven Jess, Directed by Greg Porter
Backstory: Steve, My best buddy who acts as the main character in each segment, wanted to do a "spiritual remake of" or dedication to Reservoir Dogs and style a story around the same kind of plot so I let him write this segment.
Doghouse Blues is about two professional gangsters who rip off a bank, escape and end up in someones basement trying to figure out how to get away.
I don't have a full synopsis for this yet as Steve is still writing it.
2nd Segment "el Diablo" - Written & Directed by Greg Porter
Backstory: I've always wanted to do a modern style western flick with a lot of shoot-outs and raw manly-ness. That's it really.
el Diablo is a modern-based "western" flick that involves fast guns, fast talk and a lot of bloody shoot-outs. El Rae is trying to find is love who has been capture by a gang known as "Los Diablos".
Will he find sweet Elita?
I don't have a full synopsis for this yet as it's still in writing.
3rd Segment "####" - Written & Directed by Greg Porter
We are still discussing what to use as the third story.
(Suggestions are very welcome!)
4th Segment "Dead Ahead" - Written & Directed by Greg Porter
Backstory: Ask me what my favorite genre of movie is. I will say:
Zombies.
Dead Ahead is your typical overly-gorey, blood blood blood blood blood, Zombie flick with a lot of dead people and very few living people. El Rae is trying to save a band of survivors from near-imminent death.
Along the way he befriends a girl named Kelly Rhodes who he tries even harder to save, without falling in love with her.
I don't have a full synopsis for this yet as it's still in writing.
Everything is subject to change and we're constantly writing and changing the mechanics of the stories but otherwise these are the basics.
We need some suggestions for the 3rd Segment but that's about it.
This is being made on a very, very low budget and is directly inspired by the works of Robert Rodriguez, Quentin Tarantino and directors alike.
What do you think?
