16:9inc Fisheye vs. Cavision Fisheye

I've always filmed skateboarding with my vx1000/MK1 Century .3x fisheye. I loved that set up. But since upgrading to the HVX200a, I've really missed filming skateboarding. I wanted to get a fisheye for it that was just as good as my vx1k fisheye. But it turns out that fisheye costs close to $3,000.

If I had $3,000 to spend, I'm thinking i'd rather spend it on a Letus set up and good tripod rather than a lens adapter I'll only use for skateboarding every once and a while. So I was looking at two more affordable lenses.

The 16:9 inc. Fisheye: http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/produ...DVSF5X82_169HDVSF5X82_Super_Fisheye_Lens.html

and

The Cavision Fisheye: http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/produ...LFA04X72_HVX_HD100_0_4x_Fish_Eye_Adapter.html

From the specs, and the price, I'm guessing that the 16:9 is the better of the two. But I wanted to know if anyone had any experience with either of them, or if anyone could recommend one over the other?

i bought the cavision and sent it back. i then bought the 16x9 .45x and was much happier with it. but now i've got an hmc150 and new century fisheye for that.

if you're interested i might sell my 16x9 lens. but i must warn you. that with the 200a you're going to have a tad bit of vignetting in the top left, just fri. but if you're interested in getting my lens hit me up.

Really? Yeah when I was looking at footage with the Cavision, I wasn't really satisfied with the width/distortion. I really wish I could afford the Century Extreme fisheye, but who am I kidding. How does the 16x9 compare with the Century?

I have the 16x9 fisheye and I love it. I dont get any vignetting either, I hear that the vignette is on some HVXs but not others and its due to small variations in the placement of the sensors. So, its just kinda luck of the draw on that part. But the lens is perfect in my opinion, especially compared to spending $3000 on a piece of glass :P

What about this:

The regular Century HVX fisheye? Its much cheaper than an extreme fisheye, and very similar in distortion to the 16x9, but it actually mounts via the century bayonet mount instead of screwing in.

Its .55 instead of .45 from the 16x9, but as far as I recall no vignetting with a 200a (though I can tell you for sure when I get back to the shop on monday as we have 2 we rent)

The only reason I mention it over the 16x9 is the bayonet mount, though the 16x9 does come with 82mm threads and 72mm threads so if you plan on using it on different cameras it would make more sense.

I was really considering the 16x9 as an alternative, but when I saw some footage on vimeo, I really wasn't very satisfied with the distortion.

I saw on skateperception a guy used the front piece of a Century MKII fisheye for a DVX, with the back piece of a century .6x wide angle, and it looked like it had just as much distortion as the extreme fisheye, 160 degrees diagonal width, and if I remember correctly no vignetting. I really want to give this a try, because every time I look at the extreme fish's price I want to cry

I use the .6x century for skiing and i love it, but for skateboarding you might be looking for a wider lens.

16x9 inc. used to be quite responsive, but I have submitted 2 questions lately on their site and they have never responded.
On the company's web site, to this day, there's still no reference to products for HPX170.

Barry recommend their wide angle adaptor as the best performance for the HVX200 a few years back.
