I finally put it together...hmm it's beefier than my HVX200...what the heck!

But the weight is just right and the mattebox finally kills all those flares.

You're killing me....I have to wait another 6 days for mine

looks good...what lens is that?

That is a 50mm Zenza Bronica ETRS Medium lens. I adapted it to fit Nikon mounts. It is real nice and it handles real well.

What was your bottom line cost?

yikes..i dunno..the most expensive stuff was the camera at about $900 and the Ikan monitor at about $900 too. I got Also 2 16GB cards at $136 each...two Nikon batteries at $36 each...and little nacks here and there...all in all I probably maxed out at about $2400. The rig and mount is mine...I machined it from old rigs I had...some ARRI combined with Chroziel, and Petroff....a nice mix...but it works

Does it help you eliminate the shakes -> JelloCam?
JelloCam is still there but much much much much less...the rig is quite heaver...I was having trouble holding it with one hand...two hands is a dream.[/QUOTE]

Can you share some footage?
Shortly I will upload

Nice! Are you set up to pull focus on that baby, too?

yes...but right now the monitor handle is on the way....when i go on set I would put th monitor up in the hot shoe or somewhere else....my preference is always to use my hands though...i have been doing it for so long that pull focusing is just on emore thing in that gets on the way of me being creative...while doing handheld...on a tripod...its a different story

I'm curious, why don't you have a shoulder pad for it?

I ordered my cavision rig from Adorama last week and it was put on backorder. I couldn't wait any longer so I cancelled the order and bought a steadytracker instead. http://www.steadytracker.com/steady5.html

Oh I do have custom shoulder pad with a 5 - 10 pound weight...it is real nice and stable...
I prefer to use it without it though. I press is against my chest and it works like a champ

So here is my first test with the rig and the Zenza Bronica Medium format lens...the first 15 seconds you will see lots of wiggle as I am trying to get comfortable and adjusting the Ikan monitor to my eyeline view...then I start moving as I normally move when I shoot.

Pretty stable and the "wiggles" are very minimized. Once I finished shooting, I took the camera out of the rig and did the same sort of movements...it was pretty bad...anytime I moved or panned you would see wiggles...

But then here is the kicker...I took of the Zenza Bronica lens and just added a regular Nikon 50mm f1.8 lens to it....HORRIBLE....wiggle, wiggle, wiggle..everywhere I went. When I set i back on the rig with the Nikon lens, the wiggles came under control...but still there were far worse than the Zenza Bronica lens...

I am trying to figure out if there would be any possible why a medium format lens would have anything to do with the reduction of the jello effect?

is it much heavier than the nikon?

did you have some kind of on camera light?

yeah...the two 60watt bulbs illuminating the room were ok but I was getting lots of grain in the picture...so I just added a light to the hot shoe of the camera...making it heavier...not by much. It is a small yet powerful Canon light from my old XL2.

is it much heavier than the nikon?
The Zenza lens is much heavier. It is one great piece of glass. If I were to let it sit without the rig, it would topple forward. Much heavier than the Nikon body.

Every now and then I notice that while recording there is a slight hick up on the video...as if the camera is having trouble keeping up writing to the disk...anyone experience that?
