this movie was more like "The Two Hours That Time Stood Still"

i absolutely hated this movie. The pacing was terrible. They spent most of the budget on the shots of "Gort" destroying the truck and Giants Stadium. As a result the regular green screening looked shi**y and didn't blend in at all...

DO NOT GO SEE THIS.

I agree with ZFarms. Just came back from watching it. I haven't posted in a long while, but if I could keep at least one person from wasting their money on this, I'll feel better.

Keanu makes me not want to see this! Think about all of his movies.......

Ok now think about the amount of emotion he shows........

He does not change, example lets look at a classic keanu movie SPEED! O no the bus is going to crash and he shows no emotion. O crap this guy is going to kill bullock and he just shrugs it off.

He is almost as bad as watching nicole kidman....

The point I got was that the Earth needed to be preserved for a more worthy future civilization.

Kept falling asleep, boy they just slapped something together. The original still holds up against this.

But if we messed up earth so bad that it couldn't sustain life, we in turn would be wiped out, or at least have our numbers drastically reduced, after which the planet would bounce back. The idea that we could irrevocably damage the earth is hogwash. There is life that exists in geothermal vents miles under the ocean in the harshest conditions imaginable. We could mess things up badly for ourselves and other co-habitating species in the short term, but in the long term the earth would survive just fine. The original anti-war theme has much more impact and works better for this story. They just altered it for the sake of doing something different.

Not to belabor the point, but...

Contemprary Homo sapiens could be annihilated before they do too much damage. That way our replacements have resources to rely on. Look at deforestation as an example. That's Man doing irreplaceable damage. Maybe future Man could put fossil fuel to better use. Klaatu's species are supposed to be way advanced so they'd be able to foresee what our world would come to. So they'd rather give the next world occupants a chance to make it where we failed.

Sorry, but Sci-Fi wise, anything can be fairly logically explained.

It is human's arrogance and ignorance that states something as silly as "we can kill our planet".

I think basically the film was trying to make people think about issues...

waste, pollution, comsumption, etc....

we should all try to treat the Earth with some respect

whats so bad about that?
