I'm an FCP user who has 2 Mini DV tapes shot on the sony HDR-FX1. I need to import the footage for my editor as an uncompressed .dv or .mov file, is there any way I can do this with fcp so the footage is usable and uncompressed for avid? Thanks.

If you want uncompressed then you will select an animation codec or export directly out using the Avid codecs. as long as they are installed on your system.

1. any reason you can't hook up a dv deck or camera straight to your editor's avid system? direct capture into avid will save you time and transcoding degredation.

2. if there is no way option one can happen, export as 8 bit uncompressed qt, make sure ur framerate and resolutions are all right. or to save a little more drive space, animation is loss less and avid will take it in no problem. that's how you typically do avid to AE and back.

things to keep in mind, first one is ur best choice. if option 2 has to be it, try not to drop the footage in a timeline just to export. i'm pretty sure u can export right from ur bin (to maintain timecode if that is even an issue)

there is also automatic duck, but for 2 tapes i don't think it's worth the money...
