There's an app called Where or something like this and you could use it to track your phone next time or even you kids... :)
 
Get Loopt for your iPhone, I just installed it for my G1 and it keeps your last location in case you lose it and if its off you'll at least know the last place it was on. Or if it gets stolen you can hunt it down! (The program doesn't have to be open to transmit it's location.)
