Hello all,

I just wanted to let you know that I just posted the lighting diagrams and explainers to my blog from one of the latest shoots that I did.

You can read the entire details here: LIGHTING ALCHEMY 03

Here are a couple of stills from the shoot as reference:

How did you get the sports subject to look so blue? Gels?

Did you use a tungsten balance with the 5600k HMIs?

Awesome work Ryan. Love these breakdowns you do. Regarding the sports subject did you keep the floor out of the frame? Noticed lots of light pooling there and just curious how that looked with the final grading and the background going into black infinity. Once again nice work!

I shot everything in 5600k white balance. now that color will grade the native R3D's in 12 bit color space, I then took the final clips and graded them in Color. After balancing the image and getting it where I wanted I then applies a sort of bleach bypass look to them which desaturated it quite a bit. I then pushed the colors toward blue. You've got a lot of options in Color to really push the image how you want. I love it.

That is VERY encouraging! I use Zeiss ZF's with my 35mm adapter.

Specifically, the Zeiss planar 50mm 1.4 and the Zeiss planar T 85mm 1.5

Both extremely good lenses, great contrast, sharpness, ect

Have you used these two lenses?

These lenses mount right on the Red One with the Nikon mount? Do they cover the sensor just fine?

Thanks, much appreciated.

Ideally the space would have been 3 - 4 times larger so that I could move the lights further back and then flag off the bottom too. Unfortunately the space did not allow for that, so I just kept the floor out of the frame. (I did try some shots with the floor in the shot, but they did not come out very well.)
