Made myself an "Indislider" for my HVX

hah, too cool.

I don't understand how this works without wheels
Seems like there would be friction no?

Weighs in at 26 pounds - HVX, slider, tripod and all. The tripod and head are spares so I am going to leave it assembled like this, so I can jerk it out of the SUV and get a shot. Ideal weights would be 10 lb steel barbell weights on each leg. If a 1" slot could be cut
from the outside to the center, it could be easily slipped on the leg over the foot.
Not sure how to accomplish that.

These rails are steel, highly polished. The carriage has teflon or similar bushings so it slides smoothly , specially if you push it by the carriage. No slop whatsover in the fit (designed for critcal industrial use and could probably support many times the weight of an HVX). Just a little practice
and you get a smooth shot. Wants to start to tip only at the very end of the travel, holding left hand on opposite end helps there. One 10LB weight sitting on the spreader makes it reasonably stable.

That is a very professional looking rig. I may consider building one to avoid the embarrasment of using what I have now...a skateboard and a long folding table from Office Depot. If you weight the skateboard down a bit and cover the table with a cloth, you can get a very smooth shot.

The skateboard works pretty well for under-car approach shots on smooth concrete (like your garage floor).

I've tried using a tightrope, but that has not yet worked out.

Advice to builders:

1) use lockwashers in the assembly
2) bring along a wrench in case anything starts to loosen up.

I didn't and got some unusable shots. As long as everthing is tight, works well.
