Clothing spot shot on D90

Will premiere on Hot Topic's website, where the shirt is being sold. The concept worked best photographed in an Andy Warhol type look, the spot itself reveals this much more than the grabs alone. All handheld on the stock 18-105. Some grabs for now, I will post the link when it goes public.

I was surprised to see that after the Lee Fix was applied and the final grade was completed that this spot actually looked decent in 720p.

is the diffusion a post effect or did you use a filter? i'm thinking it's always better to do it in post with this camera since that puts the diffusion "above" the artifacts, plus any diffusion on the camera will just give it an excuse to lower the bit rate even more. :-)

my guess: first just regular color correction, then clamp the highlights quite a bit, finally wash it out by overlaying a white box, as evident near the edges where it ends.

I'm shooting some kids in a playground for a scene in my short and I want a kind of cross processed super8 look, like something out of an old circus film. I'm gonna have a play with magic bullet looks in fcp .

The look was achieved by bringing down the highlights, balancing the colors to a warmer tone, especially in the mids, and then adding a 16mm dust layer in screen mode over the footage, thus giving the border in some shots. (offset gate replication)

Squig, the Youtube link is actually HD, and IMO better compression than vimeo. If it looks compressed for you, make sure you are watching in high quality by looking below the fullscreen button.

It was all shot handheld on the 18-105 VR stock lens. This was to speed things up, not having to switch primes, etc. as well as allow little zooms here and there. Since we were shooting outside the slower aperture wasn't really an issue.

nm, I had to upgrade flash player. I can tell when it's HD because my powerbook dinosaur only plays about 4fps.

I don't even wanna think about how you got the exposure right with that lens. I certainly wouldn't want to attempt it. Now that I've pimped out my kids for a set of primes I intend to make good use of them.

Did you do the post in AE?

I didn't notice any rolling shutter on that fast pan or due to the handholding.
