My 7 Stitches - show me your scars thread

Charli

cool little "title"
I broke a glass in the dishwasher, it sort of jammed into a china bowl, the bowl survived, the glass didn't and the glass caved in on itself, with two of my fingers along with it.

So here I was, called one of those quick-fix clinics, begged them to stay open, it's 20 mins until 9pm and they close at 9pm and it takes about that long to get off the phone, in the car and out there.

The doc on duty just hates the sight of blood. He's like freaking out, like - Gawd, why can't blood be a different color and the physician assistant and I are just laughing. For one, the doc can't control the bleeding, that's how I knew I needed stitches, my finger wouldn't stop bleeding for 20 mins after I put four band aids on.

I don't take aspirin, it's just that the hand has a lot of veins and pulse, so it's the hardest part of the body to stop bleeding. Got shots of novicane with probably the smallest needle on earth.

Finally they tubed my finger with guage and after two days I could take that off. I don't have the stitiches anymore, got to get hubby's camera to post it, but honestly, you can't hardly tell I had stitches, so this spider-web looking stitch photo is all I have to show for it.

Earned my scars when I was young. I do have a picture of an injury I received while playing football in bare feet not too long ago. :)

Badly dislocated big toe. Had to drive myself to the hospital as well.
That was fun.

When I was a kid, I fainted, landed headfirst onto the corner of an Nintendo (Original NES), took 10 stitches in my forehead and bleed like crazy. At the time it wasn't much fun, but I love my scar, it's like an accent over my eye.

this is a fun one, I'll take some pictures of my scars tomorrow,

he he he, I've had stiches so many times I can't remember,

Derrick

I've never (I'm talking about 19 years) been stiched. But there were two occasions where needles were ready but in the end they weren't needed. One of them, is one of those moments that you don't forget in all your life.....

....... everything started 8 years ago in a hot summer day..... I was playing with a bunch of friends in a summer camp. After having lunch we started playing (can't remember which game, but I'm sure it was one of those hide and seek style game). After some time playing, the game stopped being a harmless children game and derived into an agressive chase game. I was the one being chased. They sorrounded me in some kind of small island in the middle of a small stream (not even a river). That was the starting point for everything...... I found myself being hit by 10ths of rocks.... I was behind a slim tree that didn't protect me much..... all I remember after that is being hit with one stone in my head.... (insert here loud sound of someone falling...).... I woke up in the ground sorrounded by lots of friends (well.... kinda friends...casue after that...). Then I was taken to the doctor's... not much harm, but I think that that was the starting point of my filmmaking mentality.

....no more stories from me..... lets see more stiches, scars and x-ray images!

Man, I wish I had pictures, but I don't: I was skating down a hill in my friends neighborhood after putting new bearings in my wheels and loosening my trucks. Bad idea. Right beofre I reached the bottom of the hill, the board got squirrely, and I flew off. Fortunately my face broke my fall. I slid about 20 feet or so, ripping open my hands, arms, and face. I was wearing knee pads for the first time ever fortunately. I spent 7 hours in the hospital.

A week later, I had to change my gauze wrapping my hands (for the first time). As I was unwrapping it, I noticed the gauze just stopped, but there was no end. My new skin healed over the guaze all the way across both palms. I had to rip my wounds back open all the way across my hands. It was HARD to pull out, too.

Oh, lastly, and most disturbingly, I lost a nipple in that fall. It grew back about a month later, but it was gone for a while.

Although this isn't really a scar...

See that blue dot? That's LED from a pencil. Want to know how it happened?

In like grade 6 or 7...My pencil was sticking straight up out of one of the wholes in an 8.5 x 11 piece of paper...

I went to put my head on the desk and WAM, I got stuck..

I'll have that for my whole life I think.

Well, either way you got the desired result, no?....I had to get stitched on the bridge of my nose as a kid, and it was the greatest horror of my life at that point getting a needle right between my eyes. Three people had to hold me down.

I had a spinal tap done to me when I was like 7, I can remember being held down by like 4 people and seeing this giant needle they were going to insert into my spine to draw out fluid. Thought I had meningitis, but turned out was something else.

That pencil in eye is scary!

DANG - Timmy, you okay? Will you have superpowers after all of these surgeries?

i already had superpowers...... ;)

Now i have a built in lightmeter, waveform, 12K imager.......... Though the jell-o vision wobble is annoying.....

I have a 12 inch horizontal scar from my navel to my lower back from a surgery to remove a tumor on my left kidney. One of my ribs was removed as well in the operation. Got a bunch of smaller scars too from resecting atypical moles that appeared around the same time as the kidney tumor. This was back when I was 20.
