Hi all,
I am in Australia and have a HPX502.
Under some shooting conditions, I have noticed definite yucky yellowish look to my pictures when shooting with the 5.6k preset. Mainly when shooting in bright middle-of-the-day sunlight. It is not a nice, warm look when you trick the white balance to be a little warmer...it gives a real muddy look to the pictures.
I have my cam setup so I have a 6.3k on the "b" memory, a 4.3k on the "a" memory and can flick between 3.2k and 5.6k on the preset position, using the white balance switch when in the preset position. This allows me to have 4 white balance presets at any one time - the four main settings I would use whilst working.
I thought this was a smart way to get around the fact that essentially the camera really only has three white balance settings to use at any one time without having to constantly do a white balance (I shoot news so it is handy not to have to worry about constantly doing white balances), but the 5.6k setting in middle of the day light is just plain awful. The same setting seems to be acceptable in late afternoon/indirect sun.
I read elsewhere here that there was a problem with preset looking yellow-green. Is this the same problem I am talking about?
Cheers,
DS
