Why the Wii Dominates

The thing is, it's just so damn much fun. We got one about a month ago, and we're hooked.:)

I agree, they have managed to make it fun for everyone in the family. We just pooled together to buy the Father-in-law Guitar Hero 3 for his Birthday.

I much prefer my 360 Elite... but I have to say, I can easily see why average Joe Blow off the street is buying the Wii. Nintendo is simply going for a different... and much larger... market. I have a hard time seeing a 60y/o grandmother getting into Mass Effect or Halo 3. I don't have a hard time seeing a 30y/o single dude getting into Wii Sports or Guitar Hero. Nintendo made a brilliant move by going down this road.

I have the 360 and a Wii. The 360 gets far more use but the Wii is a great family game.
You can't beat Rock Band or Guitar Hero on the 360 though.

Both great systems, vastly different.

i've been a big fan of nintendo for a long time, but i'm somewhat frustrated with the games on the wii. almost all of the good games come from nintendo. third party support just isn't there. it seems like developers don't take it seriously and just rush out some garbage mini/party game. it's riduclous how these companies aren't coming out with good games for the wii even though it's easily the best selling console right now.

my other issue is that nintendo has done a poor job with online support. they have these stupid friends codes that are a pain and few games incorporate online play. the virtual console should have a lot more games for download than it does. remember how we were told we would have all of these games from nintendos extensive history? where are they? also we were told there would be downloadable content and updates for games. that didn't happen.

i do however like the games that nintendo has produced. mario kart, mario galaxy, and super smash brothers are a lot of fun. i just wish these other companies would step up and deliver.

ugafan, google wii zelda hack. Use the Wii and an SD card to play all Nintendo, Genesis, Turbo Grafx, Super Nintendo, N64 and many other games right off the Wii for free. I just recently did it and it's great.

I do echo your comments about the lack of great games. Far to many party games. The Wii is dying for a great multiplayer First Person Shooter. The N64 had Perfect Dark and Goldeneye. The Wii really needs one of these type of games.

You can beat it by playing it on a PS3. :)

Nintendo rocks, plan and simple, they been making amazing games and systems since the very first.

We downloaded Mega Man 9 off the Playstation store last week and have been playing it since. Those old games are so much fun.

Nah. Xbox live destroys the PS3. It's the lack of dedicated games and the poor online system that has kept me away from this playstation generation.

If you've tried xbox live in any fashion you know what I'm talking about.
Edit: not to mention, the 360 version of rock band 2 came out first. :)

For online service the 360 is better, partly because you have to pay for the ability to play multiplayer. You should definitely check out the PS3 when the price drops some more. There are some really great exclusives available for it. Plus, it is still one of the best blu-ray players out there.

I just can't justify buying a Wii right now. It is a very innovative and well thought out console, but the games are just not my cup of tea. If Nintendo ever comes out with an HD Wii that is not too expensive and has a decent amount of hardcore games then I'd bite. I think Nintendo did the right thing this generation by reeling in a wider audience with the casual games. Next console cycle they should try to branch out and bring in the hardcore gamers who like shooters and RPG's and survival horror. They would be even more successful if they did. Of course to do this their system's hardware has to be close enough to Microsoft's and Sony's to make it possible for developers to create games for the next Wii, and not just the next Playstation and Xbox.

What is the cost of Xbox live?

I've never had any issues with PS3 multiplayer. The Blue Ray player itself is worth the money. Also, does the 360 have the option of a media server?

Can't remember, around $50.00/year. It's worth it. I've done ps3 online gaming. Trust me. :) The online system of the Wii sucks as well.

And yes, the media server is fantastic. I was also playing great HD games and streaming from my PC long before the PS3 came out. Once it did there really wasn't anything new to offer but a Blu ray player, and it wasn't cheap.

Just my 2 cents.

Do what? How would that work?

All you need to know is right here:

http://wiibrew.org/wiki/Index.php

Just click on the link that says Twilight Hack under the Home brew section. It explains how to use the Zelda game to unlock the Wii so you can run emulators and Roms on it from an SD card just like you do on a PC.

Once you "hack" you can play all roms from your PC right off the wii. It's the best thing to do for the Wii if you want to play all the old games off a big screen TV as opposed to your PC.

Also, it's a software Hack and has no effect on the Wii. There is no physical hacks you have to do and it doesn't void anything. We did it over two months ago and the Wii runs like it always did.

speaking of the wii, I cannot believe I scored a wii for 200 bucks, long story short, my wife kept on telling me that I need to have some fun once in a while and clear my head since I am editing all day, she suggested the wii because one of her girlfriends has kids that have the wii
so I look on craigslist and find one for 200 bucks with games and all sorts of extras, kinda stange since they are going for 400 bucks on ebay, so I call the dude up and have him meet me at the local mall, so I go and I look at the wii and its brand new, still plastic on the items, I got home and I am still hooked as I write this!!! I guess I just got lucky but the wife is pissed now :)

I just sold my Wii.

It was a lot of fun when I first got it, but more and more time goes by between each time I pick it up. It was surely the king of party consoles though.

I have to buy one for my wife for christmas. I sold my PS3 and my 360 earlier this year to buy gear. I have played it and I really don't find it that fun. The graphics are horrible and I Don't like the idea of work out while playing games. It's just me but I am not the demogrpahic they are marketing to. I have to give props to Nintendo they know how to sell a system. I still have the NES and it still works!

I have a wii and ps3. PS3 is in happy do little land except for playing bluray. My kids , well the 4 yo loves wii, and when shes playing shes jumping around and doing lots of crazy stuff. I have a PC for the more serious stuff (my mac running bootcamp).
