KxS is dead, long live KxS

As I said in the other thread, as they have no stock now I wouldn't order from Adarama any more as they will probably fill orders with new stock of the new cards from now on. Hopefully for you Steve you will get the old card.

Just received the card from Adorama and they were the right one (OLD model)... I think they just ran out of stock.

To further confuse matters, I just received a Delkin shipment from B&H. The Delkin BOX displays the correct "eFilm" logo old card, but the box actually contains the (incorrect) new card. The card and packaging do not match. The only way to be certain we're getting the correct card will be to have someone physically inspect the card itself.

Huh?:huh::crybaby:

Can you please verify manufacturers product number on the box/reader?

The Delkin card itself has no product number on it that I can find. On the rear of the box, there's a UPC sticker placed over the original box UPC. It just says DDEXP34-MULTI-1.

Here's a photo of the box and card. As you can see, the card on the box has the "eFilm" logo while the card actually included does not.

What a trick!

I just ordered a couple of cards form the store down in US and I asked the person on the other side to verify both "eFilm" logo AND I asked him to read the man. number (and he read the "old number")... Now I have my fingers crossed since the package is in the mail.

And, no they have no more of those (I took last 2)...

I ordered from Delkin assuming I was receiving the old card but it turned out to be the new card. Wrote to Delkin for RMA number and received note from customer service rep that they are aware of the demand for the "old" card and will have stock "in a month or so." He offered to exchange any new cards for old cards. I thought that was terrific service on their part and just wanted to note it, as I will also do in print in one of my articles.

And, wonder of wonders, I happened to log onto Amazon.com where there was 1 Kensington card in stock. I ordered it on 12/4 and should receive it on Monday 12/9

Just got my Delkin combo's up and running finally with Ultra II cards.

Recorded 15 minutes straight and then started swapping between the slots, each with a delkin and an ultra II in it and it was fine for normal swaps.. did that about 3 more times over the course of 5 minutes.

I then tried to break it.. hit the slot select button a number of times straight after each other, and after about the 3rd change in 5 seconds i got a media error. Which is what i was expecting.. its not normal thing to happen.

But apart from that they seem all good. Im going to do all my testing with my new ex1 using them and not the 8 and 16 i got with it. Will save those for my first shoot over new years. Hopefully i'll have a better idea when it comes to the Delkins by then and might even use them.

There is no need to take the packaging apart to see which card is in a box with the Delkins. There is a big window in the front where you can see the phsical card through.

If you find a box where you can see the old card in it, thats the one to get...

This is a photo of the correct card in the box, note you can easily see the eFilm logo...

Did any one ask Delkin what they changed between versions so that the old cards work, but the new ones don't? Just curious.

I am not sure which part it is, but I was told that some of the parts in the old model were becomming difficult to source which is why they changed designs.

They must have changed more than just one part though, as the card mount changed to leaving a fair bit hanging out, and also the logic inside must have changed as the EX series no longer work with it.

Delkin are going well out of their way to get production of a discontinued product going here, even if it turns out they can't do it due to logistics of sourcing the correct parts they deserve full credit for their efforts.

I have also spoken to a main Delkin retailer who is also on the case with them. He has read these threads on here and realises there is a rather large untapped market sitting there. I would not be suprised if Delkin come out with the perfect adaptor for us all.

Joe,
That would of probably made even the SxS fail!
I've seen the "restore media" error using my 16GB SxS card when I was deleting clips in the camera.

Bought the last 3 downtown Montréal... Can't beat this deal... 48 GIG in three cards for 240 canadian$ with tax. Would have costed me 3000$ using S&S.
