FEATURE: NO GREATER LOVE - Official Thread - Feature Film

Thanks Zak!

I actually was the one who cut it. It took many many edits to get to a point that worked... editing trailers is a tough deal... people take it for granted.

you've developed a rare ability. feature editors usually are too tied to the material to cut a their film down to concise beats. and they're usually hung up on not showing certain aspects of the story. nice work!

I agree, it is VERY difficult to cut a trailer together that captures the essence of the film, gives them the story in proper portions, but doesn't ruin the entire thing and leaves them wanting more. Extreme care needs to be taken to make a good trailer, and you guys got that down.

So Brandon -- please forgive me for asking this -- I still haven't figured out something in the trailer: when the guy says, "because she's a Christian?" Now, I remember you said that he is a Christian himself or that he's not ... I don't understand. I know you don't want to reveal this in the trailer, but what's the story? He's an atheist and so was she when they were married, but now that she's been gone and turned to Christianity, the pastor says that she shouldn't go back to her husband because she's a Christian?

and who did the key art for your poster? what i like about it is the moment of discovery between looking at the faces of the actors and noticing the church behind them. it tells a mini-story and if the person looking is receptive, they're hooked.

Hey.

You said it yourself...

He's an atheist and so was she when they were married, but now that she's been gone and turned to Christianity, the pastor says that she shouldn't go back to her husband because she's a Christian?

This is correct, though I wouldn't necessarily say he's an atheist... but he doesn't believe in God, or have a personal relationship with God... the reason the pastor says what he says is more clear in the film, and that is the key conflict of the film as well... which once played out, I think you'll find is quite dramatic.

Hey Zak...

Henry Schneider did the poster work... he's a great designer, and I am sure he will be pleased to hear your comments!

Thanks Zak for your comment...it's always nice to hear when someone notices that in the poster!

Wow, so you deliberately created that vagueness in the trailer to get someone like me to want to see the movie?

Very ingenious, I must admit. It definitely puts the problem of "evenly yoked" in a new context ... a sort of reverse evenly yoked :-)

Thanks, Brandon.

From the all the focus groups you've had for the film have you made any changes to your film based on the feedback?

It all depends. We take each person's comments into consideration, and if there is something we hear a lot of, we give that an even closer look. Based on the focus group we had about two weeks ago we made some minor changes, one would barely notice but that should help some of the things people had issue about.

Score nearing completion

Score nearing completion

As we head into a week before our first big focus group, the score is nearly finished. The plan is to have the completed score by Monday, December 8th. Giving us a few days for any additional notes (though we've been giving notes as we've gone along through the film) The score is turning out to be really terrific, and fits the piece very well... enhancing scenes, and underscoring others... Michelle is doing a wonderful job

Music Update

Music Update

Over the last few days Michelle has been working with a guitarist to add some "texture" to some of her cues. Hopefully we'll get to hear some of this new stuff really soon! :)

Here we go

Here we go

This is a huge week for No Greater Love! The film is basically complete, with only a few minor tweaks left, if any. We have two big focus group screenings coming up (Friday we'll be in San Diego, Tuesday in Los Angeles.) Roughly 400 people will be attending the combined screenings - and everyone will be asked to fill out a detailed, anonymous survey.

We're really looking forward to the survey responses. While we've been screening the film at different stages of its completion, these two are the biggies!

Our main goal is to see if there are any spots in the film that may need a minor touch up as well as get a feel for how well the film shows in a "theatrical" setting.

Please pray for the screenings

Thanks for all your continued prayers and support!
