How to check HPX500 Operation Hours?

I checked the manual, and unless I'm missing something, it's not in there. Can anyone give the low down on how to check how many hours an HPX500 has on it?

You probably have to access the SECRET menu by pushing/holding some combination of buttons on the camera . It's kept secret because you can really screw up your camera if you don't know what you're doing, but if you're only peeking at the hours meter ........

just my guess fwiw

Hmmm... what about head drum hours?
Whats there to check on a solid state camera with no moving parts?

At some events I've been to, the crew will just leave cameras on for a week straight (they're rental cameras). Would you want to buy the camera that's been on a few tours in that situation or get one from a guy who barely used it?

I know what you are saying, but I would still like to know if the camera has been abused if I was going to buy it. Would make you think twice before buying a demo.

The HPX2000 has a way to check the hours. go to main menu, scroll down to maintenance. Not sure if its the same on the HPX500:beer:

Ok I figured it out with thanks to Jan in this thread http://www.dvxuser.com/V6/showthread.php?t=156612

Basically, if the camera is registered and under warranty, you can download a zip file and install the software.

Then, connect the camera via USB in the "PC" mode and it will create a file. You can then upload that file to the PASS site and it will then tell you if your camera has the latest version. It will also show your hours of operation.
