Water Housings for EX-1

ANy suggestions on a water housing for the Ex1? Im a bit skeptical about taking this large investment into the aquatic playground. I know there are some reputable companies out there that make quality ones. So that leaves me with a few questions.

1. Do the companies warranty the housing and the camera? or is there any type of professional insurance I can get to cover my equipment.

2. If not, for the price that I can get a water housing for the EX1 should I just by a new HD prosumer camera w/ a water housing package that may actually turning out too be the same, if not cheaper, than the EX1's housing alone? If so, Any suggestions?

Gates - seems to be the name for moving camera housings

I am sure they are reliable if treated with respect

Personally Im taking my SR12 into the wet environment -but that is purely for cost reasons the sony sportpac is £150 and the camera £700 - but no depth rating

I have no qualms in using my D3 in a sea and sea housing

my SR12 is not is a sportpac but a general housing made from a bit of acrylic tube :) - so I cnat comment on the sportpac housing either

i keep hearing that it is a nightmare on a mac...is it similar to the ex1 in that you have to have extra software to convert it and make it usabe in FCP? or is it a completely differemnt nightmare?

There is no sony mac software for this camera AFAIK

Well Im not sure (I got an unanswered thread earlier)

It might work with Imovie 08 which I keep forgetting to buy cos you cant pay and download it (AFAIK)

There is a $35 program that sorts out the footage Voltaic but it takes 4 times the record time ie 4 hours to unstuff one hour of rushes

This is actually kind of OK if you do it say overnight

Trouble is I cant get it to unstuff longer clips >1GB

I dont usually shoot long clips unless the camera is locked in a housing with no accessable controls (my current situation) - I have to roll the camera - house it and just keeep rolling at the moment

I am working on a record button for the housing which as I mentioned is basically a bit of 8 inch acrylic pipe originally made to house a hasselblad H1 stills camera !

http://www.vimeo.com/2316178 is my first effort with it but the 'long clip' is horribly interlaced (I unstuffed that on a PC) the first clips are unstuffed on the mac they look fine apart from the crud on the front of the housing and the CA from the fisheye adapter

Dare I say standing on the beach with the EX1 the footage ulitimately more boring however

I see mixing beach telephoto shots with in sea clips for something more proper

i think im gonna look at the sony cx-12 an Equinox housing package is about 1,500 add the accessory monitor for another 400 and im set...id be spending that much on a housing alone for the ex1 plus its a piece of mind incase anything were to happen.

Any word on telephoto adapters for the ex-1? what are u using? what do you primarily shoot?
