KxS is dead, long live KxS

I imagine all the companies we drained stock on, dropped an order with Kensington to replenish their stock. If Kensington recieves a lot of orders, it's possble Kensington could make more cards.

Except every retailed who I have spoken too (which isn't a lot) have said when they go to order they are told they are disscontinued :-(

So I guess I'll be getting the new Delkin as well from our guy at eBay-thanks again for the research, Steve! ;-) -but do I understand these work like the Kensington's ie work albeit w/doors open?
It's really confusing because a while back Ned Soltz reported that an 'older version' of the Delkin adapter apparently didn't work at all...

Are there 3 versions then:

1) a very old model that Ned Soltz tested and discarded as incompatible w/EX1
2) a recently discontinued model that works with doors closed (no DD logo)
3) a new version that works like the Kensington (with DD logo)

@Steve: the eBay pic of the ones we bought shows no DD logo...

Sorry but there are only two versions. The image without the DD and eFilm logo is a generic graphic only and does not exist as a product. If you get the ones with the DD logo (the new ones), from others accounts they do not work, it you get the ones with the eFilm logo (the old ones), from mine and others testing, they do work.

emondpph, looking at the ebay ad, it certainly appears to be the wrong one. It even states the model number and that it's the latest version 2, which does not work.

He says on that add that he has limited numbers of the old reader so you can probably arrange to swap your new ones over with some of his old ones.

You really must not want them that much if you won't even bother asking the seller if he would allow you to return them for exchange with the old model (offer to pay for freight again). And you want other people to help you find another source?

Haha! Of course I want them that much... :) I've been following that thread for a while, i've ordered a Kensington from Australia, i've bought cards. This thread is partly the reason why I am owning a EX-1 today. I'm very thankful for all the information you've putted on this forum and in your website.

Dealing with that Delkin which costed me 60$ is not that big of a deal for me right now. I might even keep keep it who knows. I would rather find another source from which I could order the old Delkin card. I've asked that ebay dude if he has some left... Otherwise if people on this board have links to share feel free!

Thanks

You might get lucky with him, I would certainly try. Even if Delkin do come to the party with re-manufacturing the old adaptor I assume it will take a while to get stocks flowing again.

Just managed to pick up a second eFilm delkin adapter.. worked out cheaper than ordering kensingtons from australia.

Now all i've got to find is the Sandisk Extreme II cards... noones got any stock! agh.

I haven't posted on this forum before, as I usually hang out at the "other" forum, but just wanted to make a correction to GuyB's article on Expresscard Readers. He tried the Generic Chinese card and found it didn't work.

I have the same card and it works fine with my EX1. In fact I can overcrank to 48 frames no problems. I've used it to record onto Sandisk UltraII and had no problems with it at all. It's been the an absolute lifesaver for some of the long concerts that I have covered lately.

I've had at least 5 emails from other forum members who have tried this combo and it has worked fine for them.

I haven't had any connection problems with the card and use it all the time. I can only imagine the card GuyB got was a dud. He should send it back, as no-on else has had a problem with them.

The only problem for me is that the SDHC card sticks out a little more than the Kensington, but if you are willing to do the open heart surgery, it will fit inside the EX1 no probs. I had an email today froma user here in Australia who bought four of them for use with his EX3 and he is loving them.

Here's the link to the card.

I bought mine from the Philippines guys, I know that similar cards are also sold out of Hong Kong, maybe that is the difference.

Okay but that link must not be the Philippines link cuz they don't ship to Philippines.

I just checked the link, it is from Ebay Australia, the item location is Manila, and they are saying they ship anywhere apart from Italy, Brazil, Spain OR the Philippines.

I wonder why? I'd love to go to all those countries.

I'm sure you can order for the US from this link, if that is where you are.
