Remote follow focus for £150/$300

Its a horrible feeling when this happens. I learnt my lesson years ago when I left all my scuba gear in my car when I visited a girlfriend. I ended up staying over and as it was a wet miserable night couldn't be arsed to go out and get my gear in. Came out in themorning to go on a dive and discovered the thieves had cut my front window out with a stanley knife and stolen the lot. Wasn't covered and it cost me £2500. Ever since then have been insured to the hilt.

I hope your insurance pays out in double quick time. They can replace the lenses and camera gear but how can you clain on your hocus focus?

What a bummer.

They cant replace the lenses, they were all old Canon FDs off ebay and uninsured, they are gone. No one else can use them either.

Camera is insured but only for 2 grand which wont by me much of a replacment.

Laptop is insured, maybe il get one of those shiny new macbooks....

Damn Peter, that hurts.

I don´t know what I would do, when I would catch a thief or two stealing my gear.

....probably shoot them, or at least going berserk and knock them out.

Thank´s god I´m a pretty big guy and can unpretentious fracture noses and arms if the situation calls for that.
(Got in trouble more than once, because of playing the Hulk on some bastards)

I feel sorry for you Peter - hope you can get out of this with "only a black eye" (as we say here in Germany)

I cant imagine the anger and frustration you must be feeling right now peter. I think we can all feel a little better about the incident since neither yourself or your family was hurt by the perpetrators.

PS: I hope the thieves choke on your lenses.

I know exactly what I'd do. I would have hunted them down, then shot them in their knees. Then stick their fingers into a lens with no glass in and slowly cut them off turning the aperture on the lens. I could go on forever!

You are slightly worrying sometimes aleks.

I dont want them to choke on the lenses, I want them to realise that they are useless to most people and then dump them somewhere for a kind old lady to find and report to the police

or something.

I think the gratuitous violence offered in our condolences can be attributed to the fact that we have all experienced such an awful act, in one form or another. Either way I am sure we all are counting on the capture of these criminals to be tried fairly and justly so they can be submitted for immediate summary execution.

I have spoken to the machining company, my electrnoics man and the people that manufacture parts of the radio system. Everyone has been brilliant, and the machine shop is making me another demo motor mount, and the radio components have been replaced free of charge.

Im glad there are more nice people in this world than bad ones...

wow some sick people out there. Hoarp, you seem to me to be a very good guy. Just by how you responded to something that would turn the rest of us psycho. I'm a firm believer in karma and no doubt whoever thieved your belongings will meet their comeuppance sooner or later. Hopefully some good will come out this and you get your stuff back.

Just built this out of odds n sodds i had in my workshop.

This will scare the shitz out of anyone that tries to open the door again. Loudest thing ive ever built.

The police found my car :-D

Keys in the ignition, they just parked it in burnham about 15 miles away and ran....

Going to identify it tomorrow....

Congrats on finding the car - thats good news! Guess the car isnt filled with your stuff huh? Damn crooks piss me off. Hope the whole thing resolves itself soon!

whoa. i need to check my email more often. Holy ****-balls dude! That was quite a bit of bad luck, but I'm glad it turned out okay (so far). Hope everything is still in the car. The Tech gods must be looking forward to the HoFo as much as the rest of us.

Let us know how it works out, and get that stuff insured.

Glad you and your family are okay. That's the most important thing right there.

Quick update,

The police just phoned and they have found BOTH CARS :-D

One car is fine, the other has a smashed rear windscreen, but they are both drivable and insurance will replace the broken bits.

I also warned the police lady on the phone that a prototype was stolen and that if it was found my a member of the public, it would probably cause a bombscare, so if there are any bombscares around burnham/slough (near pinewood studios) in the UK, you know what caused it.

Glad to hear that Peter.

The whole thing still sucks.
But it looks like you don´t have to modify your signature too much. ;-)
