Panasonic Battery Adapter Plate for FS-100 Power

I know this may have been asked somewhere else, but has anyone built an adapter plate for the standard battery that ships with the DVX/HVX/HPX to power a firestore? I realize the voltage/wattage may be different, but I was curious if anyone else had any answers.

I don't mind coughing up some more cash for a few more batteries that fit the camera, but getting another firestore battery or 2 plus the charger is a far more expensive endeavor. Could I build a parallel circuit to get two panasonic batteries working together to create enough juice for the FS? Or is that a bad idea/is there something I should know about these LiIon batteries? If not, does anyone have any other power ideas for the firestore?

Well... the 7.2 volts is stepped up for the Marshall 7" monitor via the Nebtek battery adapter. It should work for the FS-100 since it also uses 12 volts and I'm guessing draws less current than the Marshall 7" LCD screen.

It works. For anyone interested in this option...

Just shot for a little less than a day on a seasoned 3600mAh dvx battery. The 5600 mAh should last longer and even better. Rolled in direct sunlight, switching between variable frame rates and 24pN. The footage has no hits and looks lovely :)

One draw back; it doesnt run and then switch to the supplied FS-100 battery; it runs off the supplied fs-100 battery and then switches to the external... So when it dies, if you are rolling, you need to repair the clip. I dont know if this is the same as the tekkeon battery (I think some suggested when the tekkeon dies, the supplied battery takes over), but for the size and price, this fit my needs better.

Just be careful of the - + pin deal; almost messed up the firestore that way. Now to figure out how to mount it...

Also, be sure the gaff tape the plug and pin connections, and even the dvx battery on the nebtek mount if you are concerned about that.

Ok I'm interested. having just spent a frustrating morning shooting with a firestore and having it run out of juice quickly; I came here looking for some help. What Nebtek battery adapter did you get and where? How did you attach it etc... very curious.

If you could accept a 2x battery solution (vDoubler) you would get substantially longer run time and low voltage warning indicators built in.

Hmm, do not have access to the firestore, so can not answer intelligently. But sometimes it is mounted to the rails, or to the back of an LCD monitor, you could split the output 2 ways...

moodhairboy, sorry for the delay. if you have read the international news recently, then you may understand the delay in my response.

I used the nebtek adapter you posted a link to. I am still working out a mounting solution, though in one instance I placed the battery and mount in my pocket. The other time I mounted it to the top handle on the hpx. It isn't a perfect solution, for sure that $300 vdoubler thing would be better with that built in voltage indicator, but for half the price and half the amount of crap to go wrong, its simple and does the trick.

Again, sorry for the delay in my response.

Is the Vdoubler still available? I need a solution for the firestore FS-100. Question: Can you remove one battery and replace it with another or do both batteries lose power at the same rate? Also, does the firestore get it's power from the internal battery first or the vdoubler?

The vDoubler is available, but for your application you might want to consider our new vDoubler SPL (single plate step up adapter). With the vDoubler you need both batteries to make it work, making it somewhat bigger and heavier.

I just ordered the vDoubler SPL - will see how that works with the Firestore - has to be better than the 15 mins I get now. It's unusable.

Thanks David - wasn't sure if the product was still available or not that's all. So many sites aren't getting updated these days hard to tell what's current or not. Thanks for the info.
