Hey im looking to find a film that uses still images in the place of video.

Im wanting to create a film thats constructed up of individual images (almost in "snapshot" form) and need to find some films that use the technique to see how effective or indeed non effective it can be. So for example walking down the street for a lenght of video would take a few seconds, instead i intend to replace the video with say 2 or 3 images.

Hope that explains it well enough?!

Let me know...

the french movie 12 monkeys was based off of is a good example. snapshot movies by mad tv are pretty good. also this new commerical uses like 100 still shot camera and AE to put this together

One of the most wonderful story telling I have ever had the pleasure of watching. I advise people to not watch the youtube version but instead find a high quality and better presentation of the film.

Outstanding.

Here's the ultimate example, won numerous awards, and shot by fellow DVXuser Patryk Rebisz.:thumbup:

this is really sweet, wonder how it was "filmed". shows how you can tell a story with no tech no budget and still bring the message across! its the message not the means!!

BUT I understand the question totally different: I think what was asked is having photographs and "filming" them. I made the music for a couple documentaries by czech director Ivan Fila where only old Photographic material is available, by moving and zooming around in the photo you can create a "live" effect.

was that your question? I only have old VHS tapes of them and no VHS player....

the Toshiba Timesculpture Advert is awesome! I would like to know how this is done technically...I thought you need a special cam to do this ? once saw a website of a manufacturer but forgot who it was

This is awesome, so impressive. I love silents, this is basically a modern urban take on a M. Hulot's Holiday. Really nice storytelling and I liked how the shallow depth of field and color space of the stills gave it a really nice, cinematic look.

Bravo! It deserved it's awards. Great score and sound desgin as well.
